Just In: Feinstein e-mail - Alito
"Because I am especially concerned about Judge Alito's positions on the expansion of executive power, federalism and a woman's right to choose, I strongly oppose the nomination of Judge Alito to the Supreme Court."

16. Thanked Her For What?
She has no intention of fillibustering. Just another useless No vote on his confirmation, which will be meaningless since all the repubs will support him.

There are a number of democrats who wouldn't know integrity if it smacked them in the face. Does anybody think the repubs would refuse to fillibuster? Of course they would. Unfortunately, the democrats have no spine, which is why they continue to be in the minority party, and are likely to stay that way for years to come.

There is less and less hope of changing this country every day. We can't even count on our own anymore. Do you think any repubs would question their leadership? Of course not. They go along with everything their dictator wants.

9. I called her office, she has no intention to fillibuster
Just like she had no intention of voting against the war. Tens of thousands of us called her and asked her to vote against the war. She dosnt give a fuck what her constituants want. Her husband makes too much money as a defense contractor for her to actually put the good of the people ahead of her personal wealth!

We really need to throw her and her ilk, like Lie berman and Miller out!

10. You Guys Are Living In A Fantasy World
Nowhere in that statement does she indicate she would support a fillibuster. This is her same canned statement from last week, that she opposes his nomination, and will not vote to confirm.

There is no question that she opposes him. The issue is whether she will go along with a fillibuster, and this statement in no way indicates that she will.

Sorry for the water, but you guys need to be a bit more realistic. Unfortunately, I don't think Feinstein is in the fillibuster camp. Perhaps she can be converted, but it sounds like an uphill battle at the very least.

11. Let's hope Feinstein would support a filibuster if dems call for one.
But I agree with the previous poster about the fantasy world. Feinstein is trying to appease the dems who vote her into office without saying she'd support a filibuster. For all her years in office, you'd think she'd be more willing to lead (a quote from her last week essentially said there was no reason to filibuster. perhaps she's changed her opinion, but the statement she has on her website doesn't lead me to believe that, given the previous statement).

17. Up hill battle? Sisyphus had an uphill battle
Getting Vichy Di Fi to represent her constituancy is more like war of the worlds! She has reached a strata that does not breathe from the same air as the proletarians. And, the workors of the world should just shut up and let the annointed lead! Guess what, you are not one of the annointed so shutup!

14. The "no" vote is old news.
Agreeing with others, it's the filibuster that matters, and DiFi has said she sees no reason for that.

19. Dianne Feinstein betrays her constituents and her country if she
chooses not to filibuster.

How much worse can a person like Dianne Feinstein actually be if she knowingly promotes a tyrannic government with more isolated power for George Bush.

Is this what Dianne wants? What could possibly be her motivation to support such an extremist candidate?

Would she vote for Charles Manson too?

Who wouldn't this woman vote for?

21. well, "strongly" sure sounds good
hope she'll support a filibuster, then.

If not, you CA DUers need to get a good progressive to oppose her in her next primary.

25. I think everyone should call her office
and ask this simple question - how in the world can you oppose his confrimation to the Court and not do everything to stop it. Voting no is not enough - She must vote no and join the filibuster. If you're in CA remind her you know she is up for re-election this year and tell her you will NOT support her if she does not support a filibuster.
