Matt Lauer, is he republican?
I saw an interview this morning where he was talking to a man about a book he's written about New Orleans and he was bound to get this man to admit race was not that big of an issue during Katrina and the recovery.

I'm thinking about writing a hateful letter to NBC if Matt can't keep his questions a little less biased.

They've gotten the GE memo and know how to behave (at least on-camera). Sickening ...

3. He sure acts like one!
I remember how he treated Michael Moore like he was some kind of a criminal for saying negative things about Bush.
There was also a bit of a controversy a while back about Lauer playing golf with the elder Bush -- Lauer responded that it was part of an interview, not just golf, but it was the whole "come up to Kennebunkport" that made people feel he was enamored with the Bush crime family.

Jack Welch is a fascist. He always WAS a fascist. And he'll always BE a fascist.

He groomed Russert, Matthews, Lauer, and even Couric to give in to the inevitability of the fascist agenda years ago.

I've been browsing DU daily for years. It was a godsend.

After witnessing in disgust the "coverage" of the 2000 presidential campaign I bought myself a computer, learned how to use it and promptly found this website.

My thanks to all those here who put so much effort into informing others.

10. It's the entire Today Show that is Republican-friendly.
During the Clinton years the Today Show was relentless in slanting his image & trying to put the Republicans high on the moral pedestal.

I stopped watching long before King Goofus stole the presidency & I despise Katie Couric. Listening to her constant cackling & her nauseating voice is like being subjected to 5-inch fingernails scrape the length of a 20-foot chalkboard.

I suspect those who have any questions in their mind in regard to how both Lauer & Couric stand in the propaganda scheme aren't regular viewers. I had my fill a long time ago.

19. The BFEE just may arrange that for her.
Although I haven't had the stomach to watch the Today Show since Clinton was in office, I remember back then how the Bushes were guests or featured a number of times & how Katie fawned over them & they fawned over her. I got the impression they were quite chummy.

Interestingly, I read an article recently posted on DU in which Dan Rather was interviewed. In the latter part of the article, the interviewer asked Rather to offer a phrase about a number of personalities. When the interviewer gave the name Katie Couric, Rather's answer was "What a woman." With Rather still employed by CBS, I wonder if he might have an inside track & was kissing up to possibly a sure bet for the anchor position.

43. I'm with U.
The day Hillary struck back w/ the vast right wing conspiracy was because couric was being particularly nasty during the interview. I remember thinking right B4 Hillary uttered the VRWC remark that couric was talking w/ the First Lady FCS. I don't think I had ever seen anyone so disrespectful of a First Lady, especially after the relentless gushing over St nancy and babs.

they were so smug and arrogant interviewing Clinton and trashing him the rest of his term.

Yet they take the GOP Talking Points as the word of God and accuse the Democratic illumati of violating the BA agenda when they have such people on the show.

They both are as reich wing as they come. Sorry if anybody here likes these two. I just have no use for fame seekers like Lauer and Couric.

20. As far as Katie goes, I've seen her attack mAnn Coulter
And you don't see too many people do that. mAnn Coulter was furious and you could tell Katie could probably whip her ass, and I guess from that I figured Katie was democrat. I guess you never know huh?

I'm writing them a letter. It'll take a while to compose it, but I'm writing it and it won't be nice.

Thanks all for all the information.

34. I think Katie is a Dem who goes overboard to appear impartial.
I think she wants to look neutral so much that she actually aids the GOP.

I saw the interview with Coulter. Coulter was accusing Couric of slanting the news towards Dems. They even played an old clip about Reagan. Later Limbaugh was applauding how Coulter wiped the floor with Katie. (I didn't see it that way, I thought Katie held her own.)

That didn't sound like the GOP embraces Katie.

22. I consider the whole morning program to be hostile to Dem's.
Lauer is definitely pro-Bush. It shows up in all of his interviews, from the questions to the treatment he gives Republicans as apposed to Democrats. Lauer interviewed Senator Kerry as he was rude and extremely interruptive. Kerry held his own, but Lauer tried real hard to muddle Kerry's talking points.

26. They piss me off to no end.
Much of their presidential campaign coverage should have been paid for by Bush-Cheney. They once inserted footage of 9/11 & people fleeing the WTC collapse into a piece on Bush (weeks before the election.) There was NO justified reference to 9-11 in the piece and NO reason to insert the footage, other than to reinforce *'s constant evoking of 9-11.

More recently, Couric about had a fit when she tried to get Jim Cramer to say that Bush's poll numbers would rise due to "good" economic news & he wouldn't go along with her.

28. Race wasn't the motiivating factor in N.O. It was class, $$$$$$$$$$
The people mostly affected were poor. That's why Bush didn't give a shit.

Of course, it helps that they were poor and black. Even more reason for Bush and the GOP not to really care at all.

They repeatedly have right wing nuts on the show without an opposing view. And then they have segments such as "What Are Girl-on-Girl Crushes? - We Explain All!" or "Do Women Really Prefer Cuddling to Sex? -We Find Out the Real Truth!" I watch the show just to ridicule them just like I do ass-clown.
