that while stupid, ignorant, uninformed (or evildoing) DU posters engage in this stupid, ignorant, uninformed (and possibly evil) ragging on Hugo Chavez for speaking truth to power, Diebold & brethren are preparing Stolen Election III below the radar of the American people, due to a deliberate "Iron Curtain" placed over election fraud information by the war profiteering corporate news monopolies and Corporate Democrats.

I guess I wasn't clear enough.

I also don't see near enough posts here at DU about the imminent threat of another stolen election, and, especially, WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT.

I've proposed a citizen revolt in the form of massive Absentee Ballot voting this fall. If everyone who despises the Bush Junta (60% to 70% of the American people) votes by AB in November, the reign of these diabolical machines will be OVER.

But I got countered by the Optiscan crowd who think it's okay to have Bushite corporations counting all our votes with TRADE SECRET, PROPRIETARY programming as long as there is a (nearly useless) "paper trail," and who NEVER MENTION the central tabulators, which ALSO use TRADE SECRET, PROPRIETARY programming, owned and controlled by Bushite corporations. Also, the "doubters" came in, saying that AB votes are not "safe" either--entirely missing the point of an AB voting PROTEST, boycott of the MACHINES, non-cooperation with the electronics, and citizen revolt aimed at local/state election officials. If we WON'T VOTE ON their shiny, new election theft machines, what good are they? They can't have rigged election theft machines that no one will vote on!

A simple point. Kind of like the Montgomery Bus Boycott. DON'T COOPERATE WITH YOUR OWN OPPRESSION! Only in this case, we vote--we must!--but we don't vote on their goddamned machines.

Anyway, I'm mind-boggled at the Hugo Chavez bashing, while this REAL threat to our democracy lurks in the shadows, even at DU. Some of the discussion of Chavez--from well-informed posters--has been good. And, if the war profiteering corporate news monopolies are disinforming people about something, we must discuss it. But we have an election crisis on our hands--of great magnitude--that no one is proposing a solution to.
