Water that Halliburton supplied the troops was worse than Euphrates River
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N23338275.htm

WASHINGTON, Jan 23 (Reuters) - A Halliburton Co. <HAL.N> subsidiary provided water to U.S. troops at a camp in Iraq that was twice as contaminated as water from the Euphrates River, former employees of the company said on Monday.

The subsidiary, Kellogg Brown and Root, also blocked employees' attempts to inform the U.S. military at Camp Junction City in Ramadi that the water was foul or tell them that water tanks should immediately be chlorinated, the workers said.

They cited KBR's failure to test or treat the water in the latest in a series of hearings Senate Democrats have held on Halliburton, which was once headed by Vice President Dick Cheney and has huge contracts to provide services to the U.S. military in Iraq.

Halliburton said in a statement it had found "no evidence to substantiate allegations made by these former employees."

1. My, Halliburton execs should be tried for treason - poisoning our troops
or at the very least, seriously endangering their health.

3. Shouldn't it be simple to find the thousands of troops sickened?
I mean, why a debate about "yes I did, no you didn't"? Someone go to the troops. If the water was as contaminated as mentioned, there must be MUCH more than anecdotal evidence. We should check the military blogs and ask the soldiers from Camp Junction City in Ramadi. They are the ones who know the truth. I have talked to several troops in my family who recently returned from duty and they seem to have no problem telling you their entire story, including the screw ups.

I have been to Mexico with a tour of about 150 people. Trust me, it takes damn little contaminated water to have an overpowering effect on your system.

4. Could have acquired parasites, some of which won't show up
right away. Could be years before damage is measured for many.

Halliburton: doing its part to keep Veterans Benefit costs low. :grr: Use the troops for financial gain then throw them away.

5. Sen. Dayton says it went on for a year and then Halliburton covered up
Edited on Mon Jan-23-06 08:24 PM by wishlist
Raw sewage etc causing gastrointestinal illnesses of employees and soldiers.
Sen. Dayton says Repubs just don't care because it is Cheney's former company but they have been bilking American taxpayers and is shameful situation. He emphasizes Halliburton wanting to cover up the contamination and says they are lying to deny responsibility.

He was just on Countdown MSNBC with Keith Olbermann
