Hopeful tidbit from a state Dem meeting.... |
|
Edited on Sat Sep-23-06 09:16 PM by TwoSparkles
I attended a Iowa Democratic Party meeting today, to sign up as a volunteer.
One of the speakers mentioned that absentee ballots were rolling in--in EXTREMELY high numbers. He went on to say that 2 out of 5 absentee ballots collected, were from an interesting Democratic demographic--registered Dems who vote infrequently and rarely in off-year elections.
For 2 out of 5 absentee ballots to come from this group--and to come in so early, before the election--is fricking amazing.
I was injected with some real hope during this meeting. The large room was packed with college students, senior citizens and every age in between. People were signing up to volunteer--left and right--and there was an electricity in the air.
Although this is only an anecdotal story from one state, I can feel it in the air. Democrats can't wait to vote out these sick, sorry, scary incompetent Republican fools and take back their country.
I believe there will be a tidal wave of Democratic votes this November that will capsize the Republican ship of fools. I felt the energy this afternoon. Something is different this time.

2. Curious about where the meeting was heldd |

We have requested our absentee ballots (Cedar County) but haven't yet received them. We leave to spend winter in Arizona on 10-22, so we aren't home to vote. Plus, I like making a real mark on a real ballot. We do have campaign signs out by our driveway. I'd be interested to hear about your speakers, who they were, what else they had to say.
