Monday Night Football in the Superdome - One big Downer |
|
Lots of hoopla before, during and after the game. Its Superbowl atmosphere in NOLA right now. A big celebration as the Saints return to the Superdome for the first time in over a year, BUT george h w bush doing the game opening coin toss? What a downer. Surely they could have gotten brownie.
ESPN starts pregame show at 0500 tomorrow MORNING.

6. Actually the number will be 68,000 + |
|
I love my Saints and the city! I do think it's crazy to think that the re-make of the dome will spur a rebuilding effort in the rest of the city. Of course, we still need to keep pumping those billions into Iraq. :sarcasm:

8. Dont get your hopes up. |
|
Remember when Chithead cheney threw out a first ball at some baseball game earlier this year. They used canned cheers and blocked out all the booing. I wouldnt put it past Disney/ABC to do this. They have done far worse.

building up one part of town is wrong because other parts can't be rebuilt now. The Dome and the Saints are pumping millions into the city. The Hotels and the restaurants are doing a booming business the past few days (i.e. - jobs for locals; what a novel idea.) The Dome employs hundreds and hundreds of folks (if there are activities in it.) The city relies on tourism and the Saints and the Dome fit into that plan very nicely.
Would you rather the NFL blow up the dome and move the team out of the city permanently? That would certainly help the city out wouldn't it?

9. I don't have any animosity for the football team. Priorities. |
|
I am a huge sports fan. Maybe bush* in the dome will serve to remind the people how majestically he fucked up in New Orleans. I say rebuild homes before we rebuild sports stadiums.

4. IF ONLY, they would cover this like it should be |
|
it would be a great chance to highlight the tragedy of NO and the miss gulf coast. They could tell the real story about how this area has been neglected and left to fend for itself. They have a real opportunity here to tell the truth, but alas, they will gloss it over. Remember, this is Disney/ABC. They dont deal in the truth, only a mere illusion of truthiness. Shame on you Disney. These are real people, not some animated characters in your movies.

11. Reopening the dome is great, but, |
|
I can't help but seeing it as it was after Katrina hit, with sections blown out and forgotten desperate people inside, I hope that hw gets soundly booed, enough to cover any cheering. Though why anyone in the gulfcoast could cheer for any of these sick fucks is beyond me.
