This Bill Clinton Interview has caused quite a stir |
|
The local Fox affiliate (I'm watching the Simpsons) just gave a preview of the stories they will be discussing on tonight's local news broadcast.
Clinton "losing his cool" was heraled as the lead story :eyes:

1. This has got to be making them crazy. |
|
He was so good, and so strong, and far too smart to be outmaneuvered by the likes of Chris Wallace.

who would still make more sense after 10 drinks than Bush does stone cold sober..
I love Clinton because he's one of the few politicians I've ever seen that can:
1) Speak off the cuff about any topic without notes. 2) Do so extremely convincingly and with a command of the facts. 3) Speak in a manner that doesn't suggest programmed "talking points" but rather a real intellect at work that is willing to speak with you as a human being - not a campaign exercise.
We need more candidates that don't need a flashlight and a teleprompter and can do what Clinton does.
They are the key to winning elections because they make US look credible and competent and the other guys look like a bad joke.
At the national level:
Gore is probably the best eligible Presidential candidate in pure speaking qualities. He's not as good as Clinton but pretty darned close these days. I saw his movie and apparently he's found his sense of humor since 2000 and is a much less wooden speaker than he was then. I hope he can run.
Kerry is better than most candidates but tends to get too absorbed in minutiae that Clinton does not (although Clinton understands the details.)
Edwards is a better speaker with more natural charisma than Kerry (although I was a Kerry guy during the primaries anyways). I got to see him speak at the 2005 FDP convention and was very impressed.
Obama is an excellent speaker also with a lot of natural charisma. Also saw him speak at the 2005 FDP convention and was very impressed.
Beyond these guys, the rest of the potential 2008 candidates are definitely second string: Dean, Clark, Biden, Hillary, et. al.
I would like to see a team composed of and two of Gore, Kerry, Edwards, or Obama in the next election unless a miracle occurs and someone new comes along that's better.

17. You know what I love watching about Clinton? |
|
His body language.
Watch his interview on MTP this morning. He's disarming and charming. The leaning in, the hands on his cheek... all so unscripted, as you say, but all of it saying: I'm just a regular guy you know, doing my best to answer these questions.
And that "regular guy" is so incredibly smart!
I wish he'd hold a few quiet seminars on that skill with some leading Dems... No one in my memory does it as well as he does.

I got to see Clinton speak here in Orlando this year in person for the first time and he is just amazing.
Regarding the interview: Clinton's a pretty big guy and I'm sure that ol' Chris Wallace probably peed himself when Clinton started leaning forward and putting his finger in Chris' face and giving him that look that he did.

19. Well, look, he pissed me the hell off in several ways back then |
|
The largest being that if he'd just kept it in his pants until he was out of office, we'd be in Gore's second term right now, with no war, a bigger surplus, movement on health care, and a national program to reduce our reliance on oil and lower the greenhouse gases we emit.
But he's human, and I do love the way he's able to handle the press, and his genius for framing an argument. It's hard to beat.

If it had been any other network, the spin would not have been so self-serving, would it? Assholes. People watching it on Faux will not see the truth, likely. They will see what Faux wants them to see.

They are really spinning it big time, but the heat has to be put on faux news.
We have to keep up the pressure and hopefully some mainstream media outlet will do the same.

|
LET ME FINISH, LET ME FINISH. He's always saying that and then JUST REPEATING WHAT HE JUST SAID! Talk about unhinged...Clinton NEEDED to set the record straight with all these coordinated LIES and I think he did a good job with that.

Did you catch that? Clinton was way past ready to answer the question and the interviewer just kept trying to make it more complex. Ha! Didn't work.

before the hard hitting questions of Fox "News" will be branded as "crazy" "foaming at the mouth" "rabid" They don't care about anything but getting their way. The truth? they don't even know what that is, and they sure as hell don't care what it is. If you don't agree with them 100%, they have absolutely no time to listen to you. Their only mission at that point is to destroy you.

10. Wallace wasn't prepared for Clinton's answers at all |
|
I heard Wallace today bitching that BC seemed taken aback by the question re OBL and should have been prepared for it. But Wallace was totally unprepared for the factual answers. Clark's book has been out there for years. So Wallace comes off looking like a jerk.

14. 1st half of interview was to be about the CGI, per agreement. BC wasn't |
|
prepared for Wallace to bring up his smarmy Faux talking point in the portion of the interview that was supposed to be about the CGI, but then hammered him and wouldn't let Wallace just play it off. Hence Clinton's mention of the agreement, Murdoch's involvement in the CGI and Faux having to throw some meat to its audience after whipping them up against Clinton all these years (and Wallace was squirming at that). I think Wallace's "smirk" was the grimace of someone who just dumped a load in his shorts.
But no doubt that Clinton is prepared to answer the question at any time and any place, as Wallace soon learned.

|
At his last news conference, Bush went totally nuts. Bush even tried to sexually intimidate David Gregory. ABC had to find a milder way to describe Bush so they called him "pugnacious."

|
Clinton knows what Fox is. I'm sure he had his points prepared for a solid in-your-face challenge to the Fox talking points. He wasn't going to get a fair interview and he's not fool enough to expect it. A pol always prepares for logical contingencies (with the possible exception of the contingency about poeple not liking it when we invade their country and bomb their apartment buildings).
