USA TODAY/CNN/GALLOP: 58% Support Appointment of Special Prosecutor

A new USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll shows that 51% of Americans say the administration was wrong to intercept conversations without a warrant. The poll also showed that 58% of Americans support appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate the issue. The poll of 1,006 adults was taken Friday through Sunday and has a margin of error of +/—3 percentage points.

"I'm mindful of your civil liberties, so I had all kinds of lawyers review the process," Bush said of the surveillance. He noted that senior House and Senate members had been briefed a dozen times on the program. "If I wanted to break the law, why was I briefing Congress?" he asked.

Bush said the surveillance concept was brought to him by senior aides in response to a question he posed after the Sept. 11 attacks: "Is there anything more we can do, within the law, within the Constitution, to protect the American people?"

2. Seriously, does anyone believe this BS?
These lies sound like something a kid would make up. "All kinds of lawyers?"

If he has nothing to fear or hide, then he should welcome a special prosecutor.

5. I can almost see the fingers curled into quotation marks
as he askes "within the law", to the laughter of Uncle Dick and strained smiles of WH lawyers.
