Candy Crowly admits that the democrats HAVE been on message, but... |

...that the media ignores them.
She did a piece on the Chris Wallace smackdown and the intelligence report during the 7:30 half-hour on CNN this morning, and not once, but twice during the interview, she commented that in actuality, the democrats have been trying to get this message out front -- that Iraq has become a breeding ground for terrorists, and that we're not safer as a result of the Iraq invasion -- but that it is very difficult to get the message out because the media only tends to cover the other side. TWICE. She did offer the caveat that "all parties out of power complain about that" towards the end, but for a Candy Crowly story it was amazingly sympathetic towards the democrats.
ON EDIT: CNN showed perhaps the best part of the Wallace smackdown...Bill's comment about the "silly little smirk" on Wallace's face. Priceless!

3. Did they give me decaf coffee this morning? |
|
I think they made a mistake & gave me decaf coffee this morning, as I think I must have fallen back asleep and dreamed that Candy Crowley actually said the Democrats do have a message but that the media ignores them?

5. You heard it Jeff! That wasn't Abe playing chess with a beaver. |
|
Jabba herself cut the democrats some slack. An odd start to the news week!

6. It would be nice if we could get our message out! |

We really need to hammer the Republicans on being weak on national security. That is what Bush Republicans specialize in - tearing down their opponent's strength: like swiftboating John Kerry in 2004, or what they did with McCain in the 2000 primaries...
Despite all evidence to the contrary, national security is perceived as a strength for Republicans. So, anything that chips away at that image is good. I think this NIE is more than chipping, though.
Hopefully, we can get some good, well spoken Dems on the air to discuss this: John Kerry, Carl Levin, Dick Durbin, Howard Dean, Wes Clark. (I'd like to see John Conyers, too, but I'm also trying to be realistic)

4. I'm glad I was sitting down when I read that. |

She must be sufficiently worried about her own safety to be wondering if the other side has some solutions.
