Senator,
This torture Bill, S.3929, Filibuster it. There is no issue more fundamental to our nation's image and international good will, if indeed we have any left, more important to demonstrate that there is indeed a line across which we will not pass.
Do you want history to record your support of these things?
This is the issue to use all our powder upon to blow it to smithereens.
Filibuster it.

1. Screw the dry powder, Filibuster it just for the record of history. |
|
Even if there is no hope of succeeding. At least get it in the historic record that Democrats stood up to those promoting torture.
If not, they just look like German MP's handing over the enabling bill. Somethings are worth fighting, even is victory is a forlorn hope.

5. There's a time for principled stands. |
|
This is one of them. Rove doesn't care one way or the other, he can go either way with his strategy as long as torture leaves the news cycle. The filibuster becomes a campaing issue? Bring that one on!
No to torture.
Filibuster.

8. Yeah, it always comes down to "principal." |
|
Indeed this is as important a debate as has come up in the Bush nightmare, however again - it's a demonstration of why we need Democrats in the majority.

If the Democratic Senators who are in the Leadership do NOT fully support a filibuster, I will donate to their opponent in their next primary.
If our Democratic Leadership does not STAND UP against TORTURE, then we are going to have to elect us Democratic Senators with integrity.
This is The Time to filibuster if EVER there was a valid time. Show that you care more about the freedom and liberty of YOUR CONSTITUENTS over the desire to have a career in The Senate. Do something that is RIGHT and damn the handlers.
Words can NOT describe how angry I will be should Our Democratic Senators allow Dear Leader's Administration the LEGAL Authority to grab us off of the street, spirit off, TORTURE and hold in detainment indefinitely.
*The Terrorists* will be categorized as all of The Executive Branch's political enemies.
If they have a shred of compassion and integrity above that of the need to be re-elected, The Democratic Senators will filibuster ... filibuster - with extreme prejudice! :grr:

23. Most important vote in most of their lives |
|
Really. If the Dems vote for this thing -- and won't try to fillibuster -- abandon all hope for a return of Constitutional government in America.
I'm not kidding. Bush will consider himself exonerated and do some things that are so stupid -- like attacking Iran -- that it'll make the Iraq War look like a school-boy prank.
