McConnell: If we leave Iraq, create "a breeding ground for attacks here" |
|
http://edition.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/09/25/dems.iraq.ap/<snip> McConnell suggested that the fight in Iraq has stopped terrorists from attacking the U.S. and leaving would only create "a breeding ground for attacks here at home." "Attacks here at home stopped when we started fighting al Qaeda where they live, rather than responding after they hit," McConnell said in a statement.

2. yah, they were attacking us nonstop up til then |
|
asswipe wants to leave out a huge part of the picture... like the fact that this was the only attack not involving our own citizens on our own soil.... HELLO??? who can hear this crap and not question it? oh yah, there's 35-40% of the US that will.
And by his own twisted logic he is still wrong... the attacks stopped the moment the first and only attack ended on 9-11 dumbass, not when we went into Afgh./Iraq.

3. I would think the report leaked yesterday would kill those lies |
|
That comment is an old right wing talking point that they have tried to use since the start of the attack on Iraq. The report that they didn't want us to see says that Iraq is already a breeding ground. Last night on CNN the few seconds that I had it on, Beck was telling bull shit about they have already smuggled what ever they are going to use in the next attack across the Mexican border. These people want it both ways. The justify the war in Iraq with the fighting them over there bull shit. Then they will turn around and tell you that the terrorist could attack us any time. Justify the war and keep the idiots in fear, that is all they are trying to do.

Like the Bader Brigade is going to get on the next jet (first class?) and fly over here to attack us. Will they charter a jet so they can all fly over together?

A lot better place to train for missions. Oh, and they want us to know they appreciate us fixing the place up for them.

I think Iraqis would be too busy trying to rebuild their country and repress the Shiites, once their own dictator emerges

Will SOMEBODY who supports continuing our open-ended military occupation of Iraq PLEASE "connect the dots" for the rest of us and DEMONSTRATE or provide some kind of sensible reasoning for why attacking "them" (who IS "them" anyway?) over there will protect us here at home instead of simply repeating this particularly specious "mantra" without any proof or appearance of critical thinking? A little help, please? The ONLY semi-reasonable argument I've EVER heard about why we should stay in Iraq is that "we" trashed the place and need to help get the country back on its feet but even that doesn't really do anything for me because I NEVER supported us going over there in the first place and if more people actually knew then what we know now, I HIGHLY doubt that most people would have either. :argh:

9. We're doomed for generations |
|
eventually, we will leave Iraq, Afghanistan, and wherever else we may chance to be, whether in an orderly fashion, or, with our tail between our legs running backwards as fast as we cab has yet to be determined. Anyone who thinks for one second that that will be the end of things is sadly mistaken. This is going to follow us home, the people in this region have very long memories and in my opinion are extremely justified in their pursuit of revenge. How can we say it's okay to kill people because their ideology and skin color is different and not expect to reap the whirlwind we harvested is just idiotic.

I think that my band playing unusual versions of popular songs is why we haven't been attacked again! I have the exact same amount of proof as does McConnell. None! But, i'm smarter than him, and more educated. So, my speculation is at least as good. The Professor

14. I Think I've Figured it Out Now |
|
I think I've figured it out now. Because we "shocked and awed" Iraq killing a lot of innocent Iraqi civilians and leveling cities (i.e. Fallujah) in the process and occupying THEIR country, I guess some of those Iraqi citizens who survived and/or lost loved ones as a result of our involvement might NOW want to attack us over here or support other groups that want to hurt us. Gee, thanks George. You took a group of people who apparently weren't any kind of threat to us and turned them against us AND made the people who already hate us hate us even more. :sarcasm:
