"Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition."
What was once dark humor is now a nightmare. What was once laughable is now frightening. No human being is safe when the tyranny of self-righteous zealotry is unleashed on the world. The most fundamental of human rights, basic human dignity for which hundreds of millions have died over many centuries, are being sacrificed before our very eyes. And the peasants sleep.

:grr:

1. Our only hope, Our LAST Open Chance is ...
The Democratic Senators Filibustering The Torture Bill.

If they allow this Bill to Pass into Law, any one of us can be snatched up off of the street and never heard from again. Legally, NO QUESTIONS ALLOWED. The Executive Branch will have Absolute Control to deem all their Political Enemies as "Terrorists."

Forget about the 2006 Elections because if they Pass The Torture Bill we will be under Republican - One Party Rule - for the duration. :nuke:

Filibuster The Torture Bill or All Hope is Lost.

5. The College of Cardinals didn't stop the Inquisition!

Filibuster is not enough. Shut down the Senate! Screw cloture. Make "unanimous consent" a thing of the past. Demand roll call votes on absolutely every request. Force the Senate into closed session every day. Shut it down.

9. I agree. This is beyond "business as usual". This is so fundamental
as to who we are, that open rebellion is called for. This cannot be the legacy we leave to future generations. This cannot be how we present ourselves to the world. We cannot abide this assault on, and insult to, our own humanity. This must be the final straw...

8. I agree
We have one last hope - filibustering the torture bill. Or impeaching the president when we take back congress... We have TWO last hopes: filibustering the torture bill, impeaching the president, or hoping he'll get tried for war crimes. We have THREE last hopes... Oh, I'll come in again.

7. All humor is founded on truth.
Fear ("terror"), (the October) surprise, and fanatical devotion to the Pope (Dope - C-czar Disgustsus) ... all the elements are present.

3. And because the torture methods are secret
you won't know whether to expect sharp-pointed pillows or a comfortable chair!

6. No, not THE COMFY CHAIR!
A few years ago at a sci-fi convention, I and some friends did a skit involving the Fannish Inquisition, who cornered people wearing, for example, Klingon make-up in a Babylon 5 costume and sent them off to be punished in the hospitality suite.
