Little more on Tony Snow's MAJOR mistake about the "unitary exectuive"
(Eric Brewer): "But isn’t it the Supreme Court that’s supposed to decide whether laws are unconstitutional or not?"

(Tony Snow): "No, as a matter of fact the president has an obligation to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States. That is an obligation that presidents have enacted through signing statements going back to Jefferson. So, while the Supreme Court can be an arbiter of the Constitution, the fact is the President is the one, the only person who, by the Constitution, is given the responsibility to preserve, protect, and defend that document, so it is perfectly consistent with presidential authority under the Constitution itself."

---------------------that's what he said.

Here's the REAL story, since apparently we have a dicator who can decide constitutional law all by his addled brain self.... he's forgotten that the other 2 branches make the same oath.. GOD somebody slap that stupid fucker, Snow.

Congressional oath of office:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."

Supreme Court Judicial oath of office:
"I, , do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will administer justice without respect to persons, and do equal right to the poor and to the rich, and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent upon me as under the Constitution and laws of the United States. So help me God.''

3. Funny, I took that same oath for the Army.
I (insert name), having been appointed a (insert rank) in the U.S. Army under the conditions indicated in this document, do accept such appointment and do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter, so help me God.

So can I start torturing people too?

9. I took the same oath for admission to the bar
but we also swore to abstain from duels (Ky. Bar Ass'n).

Of course, in law school we were taught how to recognize whether something is unconstitutional. We actually had to study constitutional law. Something neither * nor his minion Tony Snowjob has ever done.

5. That is the ultimate of craziness
But that is what Federalism really means, the President is the ONLY Federal Authority. The Senate and House are from the States and are secondary in the Federalist mind, and we the people are peons altogether.

All I can say is THANK GOD for Thomas Jefferson because he is the one who fought this crazy Federalism from the gate. I don't know how in the world we are going to wrest control away from these crazy bastards because too many people are completly oblivious to what they really mean and even more don't even know it's happening.

8. What prompted that (apparent follow-up question) by Eric Brewer?
What was said just before he asked his question on the Supreme Court's responsibilities?
