I just watched the *whole* Clinton Fox News interview and you should too
Clinton tore Chris (you might have heard of my father) Wallace and the entire rightwing revisionist history campaign apart piece by piece. I am no objective opinion here but even the most biased set of eyes on the other side has to say that Wallace resorts to not even being able to look him in the eye when he realizes what is just beginning to come his way. On YouTube you can also see the pre-emptive Fox spin with Wallace claiming that he wanted to move on to the Clinton Global Initiative but mean old Clinton wouldn't let him.

Clinton clearly sets the timeline correctly.
He mentions Richard Clarke and his service repeatedly detailing Clarke's record prior to the Clinton administration and what happened to him in the Bush administration.

He flat out blames the Bush administration (more than he has ever gotten close to doing in public) for what happened after they took office as well as pointing out that all of his critics NOW at the time dismissed alQaeda and said he was obsessed with OBL.

He then drops the big one-he had plans drawn up to go into Afghanistan after the USS Cole but the CIA and FBI wouldn't confirm that it was alQaeda that was responsible. Without staging areas in Ubekistan they would have had to send in Special Forces in helicopters and refuel them and SF would have been on their own until they could slowly secure landing areas. WOW!

This is by far the best argument against the RW bullshit that I have ever seen both the hindsight arguments as well as their own dismissive talking points about OBL during the Clinton presidency.

YouTube links available as the crooksandliars upload takes forever.

7. Thank god for YouTube
I saw this this mornign and knew that I had to check it out.

Man Bill just ripped him apart. I am sure they will never let this see the light of day -in its entirety- again. No one watches Fox News Sunday anyway so they got to run it and then cut it to their wishes.

Notice that the clips that all the news channels are showing feature Bill stating that he didn't get OBL but none of the other stuff.

SlaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaM!

22. They really do
I had a guy red in the face one day by saying it can't be a "Clinton Recession" in the second term while pointing out that even his grandkids (he's about 15 years younger at a guess) will be paying for the Iraq war. Typically war and rebuilding treaties last decades to nearly an average person's lifetime, or longer.

The dollars that are being continuously and continuously cut from education to fund the war will be the worst consequence in my opinion that will have the longest lasting effect and most harmful effect on this country.

4. "oh you got your bones for asking me this"
I loved that part.

Notice that Wallace at one point tried to jump on Clinton admitting that he didn't get OBL but Bill made sure that he couldn't by mentioning that W hadn't got him either nor did he (they) even try to before 9/11.

Clinton sat back at one point and knew that he had Wallace going 80 different ways and THEN just started toying with him.

... where the sun don't shine.
(on edit) That's gotta be a hard way to find out Bill's shoe size.

Just loved the way Big Dog wn/t let Wallace turn the interview into cocktail party chit chat and kept focusing "LIKE A LAZER BEAM" on the snarky question.

Changing the subject is in top three pundit-wingnut arsenal for keeping the propaganda white- noise going. Talking over/interrupting and cutting to commercial being the other 2.

17. I think he relied too much on Clark's book. Clark's book wasn't
published in the journal Science or the National Archive, it's just a book. He knows what the facts were, he should have stuck to his own recollections.

23. Well I think that he meant it as a third party opinion on it
and citing Clarke's history with Reagan and Bush establishes it as such. I think if he had said "I remember..." well then they would have just said it was him lying again but this is the stating of fact (via Clarke) which there is no answer to. At least that is how I saw it.

If someone talked like that to me with a little smart ass smirk on his or her face. OMG I would drop them. Also I hate it when interviewers ask a question then say let me finish then as they answer all they do is interrupt they always think what they have to say is more important.

From the one posted as "Bill Clinton gone MAD!!!"

i think it's funny why people are asking Clinton why he failed to capture/kill Osama when those same people aren't asking the same questions to the CURRENT government. Bush decided to wage a war on Iraq, instead of Bin Laden, for no good reason...yet Clinton is the one being questioned?

Clinton is the past, Bush is the present...the question shouldn't be "why DIDN'T you catch him". it should be "why AREN'T you catching him".

think it's funny you all think that Fox news is biased. Take a look at CNN... In truth, there isn't a non-biased news station anywhere.

Gotta love Clinton trying to talk over the interviewer... :| What a president.

Oh, and does this mean that since he tried to go after Bin Laden, the liberals will back Bush for doing the same? No.

33. Remembering is one thing, but the fact is he did launch strikes
and plan raids, and write findings & so on, it's all in the public record. It just seemed he didn't need to lean on a memoir quite so heavily.

27. I think Clinton was exactly right to refer to Richard Clarke and his
book because Clarke didn't just serve under Clinton, he served under daddy bush and baby bush as well. In his book, he does not give Clinton a pass, he points out errors he believes the Clinton administration made as well but, by and large, gives the Clinton administration credit for their work toward trying to get bin Laden, etc. Had Clinton only referred to his own recollections they would be immediately dismissed as PYA lies by the right-wing. It is not as easy to dismiss the recollections of Clarke, not as easy at all, imo.

..this interview is a must watch. Must see tv, if you will. :)

This is the kind of tone and tenor that ALL Dems should use with these
useless talking head reporters AND when they are attacked by the Republicans.

We SHOULD be screaming from the rafters. We should be explaining the truth to
the American people and we should be outraged! Outrage is healthy when your
country is being flushed down the toilet.

What we'll see now, is the typical Republican response to healthy, open, truthful
discourse. The Republican abusers hate it when we don't stay in our corners in a fetal
position. So, like typical abusers, they'll shame us for speaking the truth. We'll
be called names (defensive, coming unglued, out-of-control) to manipulate us back
into the fetal position.

The Republicans ALWAYS do this. Let's just hope that the Democrats have
a spine, and that they don't end up apologizing or backtracking.

Let's move forward...LOUDLY and with no apologies!

28. Help me out with the proior agreement on the interview's subject matter.
I believe the first half of the interview was supposed to be about Clinton's global initiative, and the second half could be about anything else. This is different from half the time being devoted to the global initiative, since Wallace poisoned the interview by bringing up OBL during the first half. If I'm right it might help explain Clinton's anger, and his "false pretenses" charge.

An I right?
