Speaking on various hearings on post-Saddam Iraq (30 armed services committee)

and other hearings on Iraq...more than 80...and is now asking for a limit on the amount of hearings saying the senate has engaged in enough hearings on Iraq oversight

here they are straining to give the Bushies permission to torture, and in the same breath they puff and brag about removing Saddam. The U.S. has fostered and overseen far more torture, detentions, and killings in Iraq than Saddam ever did under his rule. Now they want to give themselves indemnity after the fact to cover their torture-ordering asses. What a crock!

He's talking up the "compromise" and is bothered that they even have to debate this issue

It's his answer that the compromise offers no judicial review to detainees or their treatment

Durbin speaking again about the hearing earlier today about witnesses before senate (Democratic Policy Conference) to discuss the war in iraq...
