I can say that is one significant action by the General. An incredible action by a man of integrity. If we had a competent commander in chief, General Batiste might have eventually gotten his fourth star.
This old swabbie salutes that Soldier, and offers my condolences because george bush republican party is not the General's republican party (of old.)

4. I don't understand...what does this mean? |
|
I can project all kinds of answers but what does it mean to an indidual to reject a promotion like this? I would think at this stage, that it's mostly ceremonial but it is it more than that?
I think we have a problem in our country about understanding of military service. I do have one family member in the military but the ranks don't resonate with me. I think both the military and civilians have to find admiration for each other.

5. Imagine spending 30 years working somewhere and resign instead of |
|
getting a promised promotion to General Manager,
because you think the business is being run in an unethical fashion.

2. I still keep in touch with Army buddies and it is unanimous |
|
NOT A ONE believes we are in Iraq 'to fight terrorism' well not originally, but they all KNOW now they have to fight 'someone'. They say we should have stayed in Afghanistan until the 'job was done'. They are furious at their 'boss'. Not a good thing to piss of your military.
Some of them still remember the total 'screwing over' by politicians during Vietnam. These are trained professionals, it is a disservice to just think they are mindless robots, willing to kill for no apparent reason. A foolish mistake, IMO.

3. Push is coming to shove |

And this is the time for men of integrity to step up and just say "No."
Would only Colin Powell had done that rather than telling a pack of lies to the UN Security Council.
This ex-soldier agrees with ex-swabbie Leopolds Ghost.
