"Concerned Women" publish emergency list for Senate's Unfinished Business
Contact: Stacey Holliday, Concerned Women for America, 202-488-7000 ext. 126

WASHINGTON, Sept. 25 /Christian Newswire/ -- Concerned Women for America (CWA) draws attention to work that the Senate has yet to finish in the 109th Congress. Senate leadership promised to deal with crucial pro-family legislation in this session. With one week left before Congress adjourns for recess, we urge Senators to protect American families by passing these key bills.

“Sadly, there are many unchecked items on the ‘Pro-Family To-Do List’ in the Senate,” said CWA President Wendy Wright. “American families deserve to have these crucial issues dealt with before Senators high-tail it out of Washington for the election season. We urge the 109th Congress to utilize this last week of session and show real leadership by taking seriously the concerns of their constituents.”

Unfinished Business in the 109th Congress

* The Child Custody Protection Act prohibits a non-parent taking a minor across state lines to get an abortion
* The Public Expression of Religion Act prevents legal groups, like the ACLU, from collecting attorney’s fees from the defendants they sue in establishment clause cases
* The Internet Gambling Prohibition and Enforcement Act prohibits using credit cards, checks, and wire and electronic funds transfers used in internet gambling
* A fair vote on qualified judicial nominees
* The right of military chaplains to pray according to their beliefs
* The confirmation of John Bolton as UN ambassador
* The confirmation of Kevin Martin as FCC Chairman

2. Well, yes.....but
Military chaplains have traditionally of a generic kind. They have to minister to people of many faiths, since the military cannot provide a cleric for every possible religion that may exist in their assigned unit.

This is a stealth bill to allow "Christian" (read evangelical fundamentalists) to only prosletyze as Christians to the service people they are ministering to, regardless if that service person is christian, muslim, jewish, catholic, whatever.

This is not about freedom of religion, it is about establishing a state religion.
