"(AP) The government is partially lifting its ban against carrying liquids and gels onto airliners, as long as they are purchased from secure airport stores, and will also permit small, travel-size toiletries brought from home, officials said Monday.

A total ban on such products, instituted after a plot to bomb jets flying into the United States was foiled, is no longer needed, said Transportation Security Administration chief Kip Hawley."

Being a frequent traveler I can safely say that I still feel no more or less safe than I did before 9/11. Gimme a break with this shit already.

2. neat
Kudos to the crack investigators who worked a long weekend, carefully analyzing our nation's airports to determine that, while terrorists might have been able to sneak explosive water into the airport snack bar last week, they are no longer able to do so.

:sarcasm:

Oh wait, that probably didn't happen. They just make shit up.

3. so will they apologize?
Either it's possible to get dangerous liquids onto a plane through the airport snack shops, or it's not possible. This decision makes it pretty clear that we're not seriously at risk from that particular threat. But we just spent the last month being told that it was a big problem, and dealing with the resulting inconvenience. Will they apologize for getting it wrong?
