U.S. car dealership stands by its 'jihad' ad

http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20060923/jihad_ad_060923/20060923?hub=TopStories

Several stations rejected the spot from Dennis Mitsubishi, which boasts that sales representatives wearing “burqas'’ — the head-to-toe traditional dress for some Islamic women – will sell vehicles that can “comfortably seat 12 jihadists in the back.'’

“Our prices are lower than the evil-doers’ every day. Just ask the Pope!'’ the ad says. “Friday is fatwa Friday, with free rubber swords for the kiddies.'’

You don’t have to be a bleeding-heart “lie-beral” like me to see that this is no way going to “be a little bit of a tension reliever.'’ Apparently this is meant to poke fun at extremists. Does it sound like poking fun at specific religious radicals, or does it sound like some Blue Collar Comedy “let’s make fun of Mooslems” attempt at cheap laughs? Let’s face it - the kind of person who finds this funny is the kind of person who can’t make the distinction between extremists and everyday normal Muslims. That’s why I’m pissed off.

Bless her heart, she was right. A poor white woman in the south, she nonetheless knew the difference between proud working people and "white trash." She would know where the folks at this car dealership fall on that scale, too.

5. I'm not so sure about that.
While the ad is in stupidly bad taste, if anyone was going to attack the United States on the basis of bad local car dealership ads, the country would have been bombed to smithereens already sometime by the late sixties.
