How to defeat Karl Rove's Battle Plan
An excellent read from Dr. Tom More at Daily Kos. It's an in-depth read and hard to take just a snippet, so check out the full text:

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/1/23/192956/217

"Part Three: The Democratic Battle Plan:

The Republicans are incompetent. We know what we're doing.

The Republicans are corrupt.

Leave Iraq Now.

Smart, strong national defense and homeland security.

Repairing alliances around the world.

Investing in America's future.

Personal freedom and shared responsibility.

Don't be afraid."

1. America's greatness is her goodness.
America can do better. America needs to change direction. America is better than this.

3. Its not so much the message but
getting it to stick which makes the problem difficult.

We know were a better class of people who know how to lead and protect America better but turning that into a sentence or slogan and getting people to repeat it . repeatedly, is a challenge. (even though we know its accurate)

Heres a few ideas:

Just ask yourself this America. Are you better off now or when the Democrats ran America?

Are you safer now or has Bushs war made us targets of the world?

Are your bank accounts better now or during the Clinton nineties?

Ask the question . Are you better off now ?

Now make that something you repeat. Over and over. Make it part of the language. Wear it on T shirts. Signs on houses..

5. Just Let Him Do It
Ladies and gentlemen, look at those polling numbers - we could not possibly do a better job of destroying the Rethugs than they're doing to themselves. Everything's different now, but the Rethugs don't know it - now We The People see stubborness, not resoluteness, corruption, not teamwork, and so forth. Let's just stay out of the way while they keep killing themselves.

And then, let's destroy the DLC - the Other Republican Party (tm).

9. woke up
and figured out I wasn't a republican. Had seen some ideological clashes before, ie I am pro-choice, have no problem with welfare, have a sister who is lesbian (and I accepted it, didn't kick her out of the family). Iraq war pushed me over the edge, and that is when I found DU.

Not worry of the whim of self-inflicted crisis.

13. Yes. But.
Everything has changed since then. Two-thirds of the country had a "holy crap" moment when Katrina hit, and since then, they realized that they've been screwed - now they want their money back.

I don't know how long it will last - but let's milk it for all it's worth.

14. I agree things are worse for shrubco since Katrina. However, it just
seems that passivity will not work with these people, that's just my feeling... if nothing else, I have little doubt they intend to subvert the voting process.

15. But It Is Working!
It IS working, astonishingly well - polls don't lie. The typical American would rather elect Jack Kevorkian to office than a Republican.

But you're right about the voting, we need to get going on that. And, we need to get rid of the Other Republican Party (The DLC).

16. The failure of the conservative philosophy.
Lakoff calls it that. The idea that we need to shrink government to nothing so business can valliantly come to the rescue. Which FAILED, thanks to rampant coporate corruption, cronyism, and greed.

NGU.
