On Rachel M. this a.m. Giant Jellyfish bother Japanese, made into Icecream
in China. This is sooooo characteristic of China.

What is this? Global Warming? Or - An army of Jellyfish fighting Over-fishing of the Seas? It doesn't have to be rational jellyfish thought to be true.

1. It may be climate related, or perhaps tied in with food chain breakdown
With the jellyfish moving into niches which used to be occupied by species fished out, displaced by temperature changes or pollution, etc.

Or it could be a combination of these and other factors.

4. Warming of the Oceans
may have something to do with it. Apparently the jellyfish were common southwest of Japan, but shifts in the temperature of the ocean have allowed them to expand their range into Japanese waters.

11. Jellyfish can be quite tasty.
I ate jellyfish a number of times when on an assignment in China. It was served as the in-flight meal between Beijing and Shanghai. As the article says, it is shredded, dried and served with sesame or other oils. In your mouth, it feels like boiled noodles and is a little crunchy.
