*OK Everyone - Take a Deep Breath - Think About November* |
|
Yesterday and today were horrible days. Many of our Democratic leaders (for whatever reasons) chose to support the torture bill and there's been a lot of anger and sniping going on here because of it.
We have to hold it together though - we can't take our eye off the prize and allow GOP machinations to splinter our party right before the election. They've done it before and we can't allow it to happen now.
What's done is done. I don't care who voted for that bill - when Democrats take back the house (THINK WAXMAN, CONYERS) - we can start to undo the damage. This must be our number one goal and we have a matter of weeks to put our noses to the grindstone and make it happen.
So cry in your beer, curse at the TV - do whatever you need to do, but tomorrow - we are all DEMOCRATS and we are all going to FIGHT to take back what is ours. THEY WILL NOT BEAT US.
Now I'm going to go have a glass of wine and try to put this horrible day behind me.

3. Once we are in the majority, our committee chairs will handle these bills. |
|
Those Democrats who voted in favor of these bills better shut their mouths and let Conyers, Rangel, Waxman, and Leahy handle these problems. They will not let these bills out of committee.

In November we can all gather here and wonder how the Dems managed to LOSE again.
You actually think that there is hope? You actually think the Dems are going to win EITHER house in November?
I'll gladly take that bet. Not because I'm apathetic. Not because I intend to not vote. But because it has already been RIGGED.
But I'm sure in November there will be plenty here explaining how it was lost, as if an explanation is needed.
Mark my words.....they will LOSE. That's what the Dems do best. They do an excellent job of it, and will continue to do so for the forseable future.

Take this from my experiance, if you look at defeat you will meet it, if you look towards the future as you would have it you will meet it. my wife would have been dead 9 years ago and than over and over again in that time, but I would never look to what was expected to unfold. there is a God, and it's you! Peace

don't play into their hands....there is a reason this was pushed right now...because they want to divide us...before the midterms....after we are in the majority...we can deal with whom we need too...but we can't let them separate us now...or take our mind off winning... wb

Party On!!! Of course we may be focused on something else tomorrow, but our goddamned elected officials have voted to still make our government (country) like the Khymer Rouge the next day, and the next...
Trust me, a glass of wine won't do it! I've had 3 and I'm still angry and disgusted.

16. November is the last thing I want to think about |
|
In November, I get to vote for two conservative republicans who - oddly enough - happen to have big D's after their names: Harold Fucking Ford, Junior, and Bart Fucking Gordon, both of whom voted in favor of torture, and both of whom can kiss my ass for a nubmer of reasons, not least of which is their vote for torture. I want to vote for Democrats, goddamnit. I didn't join the party to vote for conservative warmongers. I'm so mad I want to fucking smash things. :argh: This is not the Democratic Party I grew up in. Voting for fascists in the hope of a majority is odious beyond belief.
And frankly, I fear they're too stupid to do anything with the majority once we give it to them, but like an abused spouse, I just keep coming back for more. I really don't know how I'm going to vote for people who approve torture. I really, really don't. I'm going to try, for the sake of that mythical holy grail, a Democratic Majority. But I don't know. How can you vote for someone you'd like to spit on?

23. Very esoteric question |
|
My misery is your misery. What don't you understand? How is it possible to defend "the party"? How is possible to "look to November"? See that little girl at the top of this page with the rapturous look on her face? That is how you all look when you utter Democratic Party. Same look. But here the party has let down civilization all in the fears of looking weak. All for November...
You're right. Why am I even here? It's pointless. This place is nothing but an echo chamber cum pep rally.

will you vote in November? If so, for whom? Because right now unless you say Democratic - I can't see there's really much of a point in even continuing to talk about any of this.

You wrote" Yesterday and today were horrible days. Many of our Democratic leaders (for whatever reasons) chose to support the torture bill and there's been a lot of anger and sniping going on here because of it.
I now understand why people say there is no difference between the two parties. There is no reason to support the Democrats any longer. The least they could have done is given us some theatre of illusion, but they couldn't even do that.

I sure as hell care. No war criminal will ever get my vote. As for November, I am thinking about it. My so-called choices for senator will be a war criminal who voted for torture and a repug. I will vote for NEITHER!
