"Illegal Warrantless Spying" is now the "TERRORIST Surveillance Program"?
Edited on Tue Jan-24-06 12:03 PM by leftchick
I listened to Gonzales for about three seconds and heard that term so I goggled it. They have repackaged spying on americans into a more marketable term eh? I am sure tweety and wolfie will use it often...

MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Striking back at critics, President George W. Bush said his once-secret domestic spying effort should be termed a "terrorist surveillance program" and contended it has the backing of legal experts, key lawmakers and the Supreme Court.

In a speech at Kansas State University, Bush said he finds it "amazing" when people charge he broke the law. He asked, "If I wanted to break the law, why was I briefing Congress?"

Bush said that by authorizing domestic eavesdropping, he was only doing what Congress told him to do -- protect Americans from terrorist attack.

Bushco has branded the spying program the "Terrorist Surveillance Program".

Now we KNOW they're spying on us. When they give something its "Orwell title", it's a dead giveaway.

2. It's nice we have a government that suggest we are suspected terrorists
They just need to spy on us to figure out which one are, and which ones aren't...

Orwell rolls in his grave...

3. More BS from the RW noise machine
Federalist whackos are partisan before they are legal scholars. Legal whores, like attorneys for the NRA, tobacco companies and this administration will say what they're paid to say.

However, almost any independent attorney or legal scholar who looks at this from a legal standpoint knows Bush broke the FISA law and violated the search and seizure privisions of the bill of rights.
