Son of a Pundit! Look Who's Talkin' Sports on Satellite Radio

....The veteran political strategist and the Boston College sophomore (son of Tim Russert) will pair up for a weekly one-hour show to debut in March on XM Satellite Radio, the network announced yesterday....

***

"Me and James are always at Nationals and Wizards games," said the former ESPN intern, a St. Alban's grad. "We found ourselves debating certain issues that always come down to the age gap" -- such as whether college athletes should be paid, or whether the NBA should institute a dress code. "People who sat around us found it interesting to listen to us -- by the end of the game it would get quite heated."

They pitched the idea of a show to XM, which picked it up. Neither the company nor Russert would disclose how much they will be paid.

So, how's it going to feel to be envied and resented by every other 20-year-old who thinks his views on sports should be heard by the nation?

"It doesn't bother me at all," said the history and communications major. "I guess it comes with the territory. I'm just thankful for the opportunity."

2. Memo to TV talking heads: If Carville is getting a new gig...
time to consider that you are all about to be unemployed!

Think about it. If only one view, one set of talking points, is uttered on-air, why would the corporate media need to keep paying ALL of you to speak it? Why would they need the expense of paying lots of hair-dos to read what the stenographer took down at the 'official but nameless source' briefing? Do the math! You either do journalism or you are extinct! Trying to cling to your job by going along to get along is about to expire as a career strategy!

::I need a 'throwing hands up & shaking head in exasperation' smilie::

6. This part really gets me:

So, how's it going to feel to be envied and resented by every other 20-year-old who thinks his views on sports should be heard by the nation?

"It doesn't bother me at all," said the history and communications major. "I guess it comes with the territory. I'm just thankful for the opportunity."

snip...

Yeah, I guess it comes with the territory if your dad sold his soul (if he had any to begin with) to a corporate war machine.
