Rep. Alexander, R-La knew of Foley's behavior for months....And hid it.
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2006/09/29/national/w123452D40.DTL&type=politics

Campaign aides had previously acknowledged that the Republican congressman e-mailed the former Capitol page five times, but had said there was nothing inappropriate about the exchange. The page was 16 at the time of the e-mail correspondence.

The page worked for Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-La., who said Friday that when he learned of the e-mail exchanges 10 to 11 months ago, he called the teen's parents. Alexander told the Ruston Daily Leader, "We also notified the House leadership that there might be a potential problem," a reference to the House's Republican leaders.

THIS is what you use to bring these guys down. How can you trust Republicans to protect America when they hide things like this?

4. It's a good question.
I find it strange though that Republicans would ADMIT knowing about this in advance and still kept him in powerful positions, knowing the potential of this coming out.

Edited on Sat Sep-30-06 03:20 AM by pitohui
there is a poster, rgbolen, who is probably in the asperger's club or thereabouts, and he says even HE knows who it is

symbolman, another popular poster, says he was biting his tongue in a debate w. foley not to mention his problem of bending over pages instead of using a bookmark

it sounds like it was known to everybody but us two, gatorboy and i for one resent being left out of the gossip loop :-(

we should form a protest!

all louisiana posters should be informed of louisiana juicy gossip by PM or else! no lollipops for you, symbolman! :-)

16. Wouldn't it just be so delicious if someone inside the NSA wiretapping
program (which is being used politically by the BushCo's) is releasing this? Wouldn't it just be such poetic justice if there is a rebellion of sorts going on inside the NSA (like there seems to be in the military, CIA, FBI etc.) related to the illegal and unconstitutional activities and abuse of Americans rights by spying on them? Maybe there are some actual patriots inside the NSA who have known of pedophiles like this piece of shit Foley in the Republican party and they are purposely releasing it for all to see????

Could there be more coming??? Bring it on....

7. IMO, this is no time for subtlety. IMO, even better would be something
like:

"HOUSE SPEAKER COMPLICIT IN FOLEY TEEN SEX SCANDAL COVERUP?"

"HWKRFT": How Would Karl Rove Frame This?

11. People aren't always aware of the particulars
Naturally, Foley will dissolve into the ether by the weekend..

a general headline covering all:

"HOUSE SPEAKER COVERS UP FOR PEDOPHILES"

The laundry list is long in the HR..

"Has Rodney lost touch with Louisiana values? People in Monroe call the police when they hear about something like this not a party boss."

9. Republicans are dumb and power hungry
That's the only answer.

They are so into power, that they can't see the potential side effects.

Besides the fact that what this man did was horribly offensive and wrong, now he's stuck
on the ballot, and it'll be almost impossible for them to win, unless a majority of his district
want to vote for this pos.

Same thing with Delay. He waited until after he won the primary to drop out, and now they're
screwed there too.

That's a 4 seat swing right there.

Not only do I want to see the dems take over because they are better for the job, but to see that
it might be the Repubs own greed and corruption and hunger for power that does them in is doubly
sweet.
