Foley Case is a test of the media...Remember Condit and Clinton?
The media played up these stories about Democratic sexual scandals 24/7.

In moments of "candor" they admitted that they played them up because that's what the public is interested in.

Admittedly Clinton was a president and the Condit case involved a murder.

But still, the Foley story has all the tablooid elements for cable news. Taboo sex, a prominent Congressional leader, a crusader against the practices he apparently engaged in, a possible cover up at the high levels of government.

Soooooo....Will the media turn on their Monica/Condit Machine now that it's scandal involving a Republican?

Somehow I doubt it.

2. Guess What
CNN has said that it is political and are blaming the democrats for bringing it to people's attention.

Now consensual sex between two adults was made into an impeachable offense. Granted it was extra martial, but consensual. Both were of age. And Monica had affairs before with married men so this was nothing new.

But trying to engage a 16 year old boy in sex. And from the remarks, this was not the first time Foley had engaged in this type of behavior.

And why didn't they do something about it. And they wanted bills passed because of the priest's sexual misconduct with young boys.

4. The Class Media decides everything in this country.
They are soulless. I despise them.

I've been thinking of this lately. Every time I see Joe Scarborough on my TV I wonder why the media didn't go after him when a dead intern was found in his Florida office.

Some woman -- can't think of her name -- but has been a regular on PBS let slip that "everyone" knew about Bob Packwood for years. They didn't say a thing.

But, the Class Media ran Gary Condit out of Washington before there was any public evidence of wrongdoing on his part. Has there ever been any evidence against him?

The Class Media willfully attacked Al Gore. Many have described or let slip how they attacked Gore for sport. It's no wonder they luv W. They can identify with him because they are soulless spites who rule the world as if it is their own private Frat Party. We are paying and will continue to pay for their folly.

Perhaps the Class Media should turn their gaze on themselves. If they did, it would be like exposing a vampire to sunlight. Maybe then we could get our democracy back.

7. 3 reasons why there will be little coverage
a) It involves a GOP leader
b) it does NOT involve a missing blond besotted bimbo in an exotic location
c) it involves a GOP leader

9. However, those cases involved actual sex, not the cyber type
Edited on Sat Sep-30-06 08:38 AM by kdpeters
This would be more accurately termed a hot chat scandal.

10. Hot chat between a 52 year old Congressman and a teenager?
Seems like that's a little bit more than a pecidillo. Especially since the Congressman is a card carrying member of the GOP Morals Lynch Mob.

12. "because that's what the public is interested in"--?
when any member of the corporate media says "public" or "Americans" what they really mean is "the repuke who signs my paycheck"

13. I disagree somewhat -- They're basically pimps
If there's a buck in it they'll cover it.

But that's also why this is a test. This has all the elements to goose the ratings. But if they shy away from it because it's too sensitive because it's a Republican scandal, then they will ALSO be certified GOP sellouts, not merely pimps.
