6. Exactly.
We do not ask, "Which is more important: global warming or the war in Iraq?" We are democrats, fully capable of dealing with any and all issues important to the people of this country.

2. Both.
They play to different audiences.

We need a win in November to bury the torture issue.

Foley is already buried.

3. They are the same issue
A GOP out of control showing no respect to existing laws and protocol. Whether it be minors or terrorists.

They will do as they please, and anyone else be damned.

4. Big picture: Of course the torture bill is the important issue.
But the Foley scandal means there's one less slimy Republican in Congress, which means we are just a little closer, right now, to a Democrat-controlled Congress. And if that occurs, this pernicious legislation might be repealed.

8. Depends
I suspect that the Foley salacious details can get the attention of a lot more voters that the depressing details of the torture bill.

And since the target of Foley was a man, not a woman, this can raise the ire of the Rove Brigade what with all the family values etc., when one of their own is a "pervert."

To win the elections, I would say run with Foley.

Sorry about the cynicism but this is what will determine the outcome. Not so much the lofty ideas of Iraq and terrorism, or even the stock market, but what can be comprehended and interpreted by regular voters.

12. Isn't Mark Foley a Kid in the Hall?
He was on News Radio for a couple of years, and did the voice of an ant for a Disney toon. I bet he hates it that this sleezebag has the same name. :puke:

13. If you mention torture in the same sentence as Foley....
Edited on Fri Sep-29-06 11:27 PM by kentuck
then you get more people to pay attention. Even those that could care less about the torture issue, and there are some, will be glued to every word about Foley, 'cause it's about sex. So talk about Foley alot but don't forget to mention the torture laws and the dictatorship we are quickly sinking in. If you mention Foley, mention Bush. Tie them all together , just for the hell of it.

14. neither. IMO corruption and the shortchanging of the middle classes
is more important to the everyday voter. 500 billion going to finance a useless war while schools close and infrastructure crumbles here at home.
