Is The Foley Story A Premeditated STRIKE AGAINST THE REPUBS??? |
|
Edited on Fri Sep-29-06 11:20 PM by Beetwasher
In other words, is it somehow being orchestrated as a DEM strike against the Repubs? Now, I'm not saying he was framed or anything like that, but it seems like someone probably knew about this for a while before it was leaked and had all the text of the IM's and everything ready to go, and waited for the right, strategic moment when it could do the most damage.
Hmmm. Makes you wonder if there's an anti-Rove out there.

My rep protected the slime ball, and that's just as bad to me. I sent Hastert a letter tonight telling him that I wouldn't trust him around my son, knowing that he would cover-up or act in his own interests. The whole thing sickens me.

50. I read that Hastert was involved in investigating |
|
this incident about Foley and most likely was instumental in obtaining Foley's resignation. Since it appeared that Foley was known to be overly interested in young male pages, the House Repubs most likely thought it would be wise to get rid of the problem of further scandal exposure.
Difficult and ridiculous for anyone to consider this was a political play by Democrats to get Foley.

Think of it as a story, unsmotherable, but big enough to deflect HR 6166 a bit. Or more likely, the Abramoff links.
It would have come out eventually, but Rove is desperate to throw a Congressman or two under the bus.

these are stop loss strategies, not consumate election strategy. He only had to get things close enough to steal in key races as far back as last December.
And then the horrors started to roll down on them. By the time August was here, solid races went south, and with Lieberman staring the PUgs in the puss, he had to say he had the mother of all October surprizes, thus negateing the surprize.
Karl is not in an enviable position, but cornered rats bite hardest.

I think of it of having a fire, and blowing it out with Dynamite, aka Iran. All they have to do, they think is vamp until they invade Iran, and the minesweepers are heading out.
It's ok if you disagree, really. In light of the 'reality oriented community' comment, it is a very plausible explanation.

What is? Your explanation? Sorry, it's not very plausible at all. They would never throw a congressional seat to the Dems to cover up another, not nearly as explosive story. That's not reality oriented at all, far from it.

7. I don't think so. I'm sure some Pubs will blame it on Foley's opponent, |
|
but it seems like there were a lot of rumors about this guy's sexual orientation floating around for quite a while, and now some emails have become public, and from a little I heard, a lot worse ones out there too! The emails that were read on the TV shows were very mild, but I heard at least one, read by some persom who was supposed to be reading a blog, that there were some very explicit things idiot Foley wrote to some minors.
I don't think anyone's going to succeed at blaming this one on anyone but Foley!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060930/ap_on_go_co/congressman_e_mailsThe e-mail info was learned by Rod Alexander(R-La) and passed on to Tom Reynolds(R-NY) in turn passed on to the House page board for investigation. There are other sources if you truly want the scivvy. Doubtful if this was a Dem plot to get Foley.

I'm talking about the leaking of it, the timing, the compilation of the material.
It's possible it was just great reporting and it's the reporters who deserve all the credit, but it's also possible this was initially sourced to them by someone else who had the goods and in some ways orchestrated the leak and release etc.

devastating. If it were only political it would have appeared closer to the election say end of October. I think. If it were political, it's better that it came out before this guy got back in office unless Repubs can muscle another candidate in his spot and rig the election. I'm just glad he has been uncovered and he has resigned. I feel his position really proves that corruption is entrenched in the Republican party. Republicans must feel so disgusted and betrayed by this era of leadership. They are making McCarthyism look mild.

47. Someone Finally Did Their Job |
|
I think it was Americablog that said they had gotten a copy of the emails several months ago, but couldn't verify their authenticity and thus didn't run it. But it appears others out there also got them and someone decided to see if there was some fire beyond the smoke. Looks like we got that answer today.
Was this an inside job? Well...someone in the Repugnican chain had to have let this leak through as problems with Mr. Foley were called to Hastert's attention a year ago. This was gross stupidity by the GOOP leadership (who probably thought they could cover this up) as something this salacious was sure to get out.
Several weeks ago, the RNC funneled millions of dollars into Opposition Research...something they specialize in and how they have won many close races through finding some skeleton or slime in a person's background. Now, maybe there's someone on our side doing the same thing (and if its outting a predator, I say, let's out 'em all) or this was leaked by someone in the GOOP who can benefit from his/her party losing its majority and having to rebuild from the bottom up.
Seems like there's a lot of things leaking out these days that has really sucked the air out of the Repugnican's efforts to "oontrol the message" in this election...its as if someone's trying to out-Rove Rove.

"Rep. Thomas Reynolds (news, bio, voting record), R-N.Y., chairman of the House Republican campaign organization.
Alexander said he did not pursue the matter further because "his parents said they didn't want me to do anything."
Carl Forti, a spokesman for the GOP campaign organization, said Reynolds learned from Alexander that the parents did not want to pursue the matter. Forti said, however, that the matter did go before the House Page Board — the three lawmakers and two House officials who oversee the pages"
No this was not a Dem "strike". The Republicans who had knowledge of the e-mails took action.
