1. Hardly surprising they miss him.
He was probably a big source of business for them.

2. Well there's no proof he actually raped children
only that he wanted to. Give the poor guy a break. Do I really need this?: :sarcasm:

3. It was probably Foley's idea of "match.com" or "eharmony.com"

8. Stunning to me.

Then I wondered. If not an extreme form of denial, could this be a plea for help from individuals realizing how sick they are?

6. I suggest that you all do some research...
On John Walsh's(Yes, THAT John Walsh's) National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Some of the things I have read have been quite unflattering indeed.

As I remember it, it is a great vehicle for making John Walsh wealthy. Other things? Not so much.

13. Hasn't it been a brilliant vehicle for guilt tripping people into buying
overpriced milk as well. Board roster, latest IRS filing and a little peek-see on what is actually going on wouldn't offend anyone with nothing to hide, right?

Where else could we get this dialog. And so on. These people need to get real.

16. You meant to say safer, right?
Especially since figures show that almost 5% of those who abuse, exploit or molest children are homosexuals. The other 95% are "ethical" Republicans hiding behind their shrill throated claims of being heterosexuals. A child molester is a child molester even when it's your mom or dad or a sibling. Maybe we should just call the Defense of marriage Act the Child Molestation and Exploitation Opportunity Act.

17. Why anyone would defend this person is beyond me
He may have passed laws based on his onw projections. He was one sick puppy.

19. I'm not defending him
But that is a statement of fact. This thread is anchored by a news story in which the head of a child safety organization says Foley will be missed. To that group, he will be, but somebody will take his palce.

He may have passed laws based on his onw projections. He was one sick puppy.

No arguemtn from me.

enjoying taking minor's kids clothes off. Doesn't deal well with respectability.

26. It turns out that Foley headed an anti-child exploitation caucus!
Foley, as chairman of the Missing and Exploited Children's Caucus, had introduced legislation in July to protect children from exploitation by adults over the Internet. He also sponsored other legislation designed to protect minors from abuse and neglect.
(link)

Well, this explains the everything--Walsh and Foley must have worked closely together over the years. And he didn't have a clue? I realize how embarassed he feels, but he should have expressed SOME degree of disappointment?
