More E-Mails the GOP "Leaders" Have Ignored
As detailed in my latest SEC filings regarding Halliburton, GOP "leaders" have ignored the content and implications of the mis-directed e-mails I received while working at Halliburton/KBR's Government Proposals Group in Arlington, Virginia:

http://www.sec.gov/cgi-bin/browse-edgar?company=smith+david+allen&CIK=&filenum=&State=&SIC=&owner=include&action=getcompany

I share my very common name - except for my middle initial - with David R. Smith, VP of Tax at Halliburton. The mis-directed e-mails I received dealt with the company's strategy for containing the DOJ/FBI/SEC investigation into the Nigerian bribery issue, keeping it out of the press if possible, and spinning the press (if necessary).

Untaxed, offshore, off-balance-sheet funds were used to pay off Nigerian officials, so that Halliburton could build energy projects there - putting domestic American workers (such as coal miners from my native West Virginia) out of work.

For additional coverage of the story, please see: http://www.google.com/search?q=halliburton+nigeria+%22david+a.+smith%22&hl=en&lr=&filter=0

Please also bookmark: http://www.HALwhistleblowers.org (other Halliburton/KBR whistleblowers' stories coming soon, in time for the mid-terms)

Please also bookmark: http://www.BushBunglesBrigade.org (highlighting the Brigadier Generals in the GOP's Bush Bungles Brigade, such as Santorum, Burns, Allen, Hastert, and Foley)

To see the letter I sent last week to Senators Byrd and Rockefeller - with copies to lawmakers on both sides of the aisle - please see: http://www.shareholdersonline.org/pdf/092006senateinvestigationrequest.pdf

Best of luck to all, and remember - it took moderate, thinking, independent-minded Republicans to bring down Nixon. Many progressive-minded Republicans in the Bill Weld mold think W stands for "Who in the party thought this moron was Presidential timber?"

- David A. Smith (or, just "Dave")
(not to be confused with David R. Smith, VP of Tax at Halliburton)

3. Hi, Dave - welcome to DU!
Glad to have you here.

Quick question - who's reporting on this material in the media? Related: who should be, but gave you the brush-off?

Thanks -

9. Media Brushoff
Mark -

All the reporters who've contacted me on this have asked great questions. Some are still doing fact-checking for larger, more in-depth articles (and editors have a responsibility to make sure that those stories are accurate).

By contrast, the GOP "leaders" who've given me the brushoff have been shameless in their ostrich-head-in-the-sand reaction.

- Dave
