John Walsh's organization comes out in support of Mark Foley
John Walsh is the founder of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

Gully found this statement on their website this morning, about how they are going to miss their favorite pedophile Mark Foley. They just don't get it.

84. Walsh's Message.. as of 10/1/06

In response to the numerous media inquiries we have received, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children is issuing the following statement regarding the resignation of Florida Congressman Mark Foley:

News reports regarding interactions over the Internet between former Congressman Mark Foley and Congressional pages are deeply troubling and convey strong suggestions of child sexual exploitation. NCMEC is not privy to the specific facts of the case and thus, it is inappropriate for NCMEC to comment or speculate about them.

Child sexual exploitation via the Internet has become an enormous problem, reaching into every aspect of society. It is imperative that every person become more vigilant and that we enhance steps to keep children safe online.

Congressman Foley has been an effective and dedicated Member of Congress. Nonetheless, if it is determined that he has engaged in acts which have harmed children or put them in jeopardy, like any other person, he must be held accountable. If he has violated the law, he should be prosecuted."

8. So have I

It bothers me when someone turns a tragedy into such a successful career. It's one thing to become an advocate for this sort of thing, but Walsh reminds me of Geraldo, he seems to be mainly in it for himself.

When Walsh defends a sexual pervert then you realize it appears about the Republican economics and power and not about morality.

It is just sick that an organization which claims to be protecting these children is involved in harm of the most vulnerable.

seem to be playing the same game too.

There have been more then a few posts defending these statements the NCMEC has put out, saying that it's okay because they didn't know what was going on. We know, but they don't? Yeah, right.

It's amazing how easily fooled people are because someone looks good on TV.

Let missing children remain missing and keep anyone featured on America's Most Wanted free, they are probably fake anyways. Boycott the Center and AMW, if you see a missing child or see a person featured on AMW, DON'T REPORT IT, no matter how big a reward is or wheather foul play is suspected on the child or how dangerous the assailant is. We will call this movement OPERATION NOT OUR PROBLEM! That will be a real effective protest against that repug Walsh!!!!

thought they knew and the 'pedophile gay' side Foley thought he could keep secret. It is difficult for a lot of people that knew him as the 'good guy' to believe he could be the exact opposite. No one likes to be made a fool or be fooled, specially when it relates to pedophiles and children.

the fact that the rethugs knew about Foley's behavior AND then allowed Foley to continue holding his co-chairman position are grounds for an investigation of those rethugs and their immediate impeachment and removal from office. Let's see where American's true values really are!!!!!!

I knew him and his family, went to the same schools and attended the same church, I knew his sister the best since she was the closest in age. My Dad knew his Dad very well and he was in no way a wingnut.

I'll tell you what made Walsh a wingnut, MONEY, plain and simple. I can tell you for a fact that many people in our hometown think exactly that.

Former Homeland Sec official pleads no contest to sexual predator charges

This just in ..... Remember Brian Doyle, the Homeland Security official who was caught in a sting when he thought he was hooking up with a 14 year old girl on company time?

Link: http://www.theledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/200...

Brian J. Doyle, 55, reached an agreement with prosecutors and made the plea in court today in Bartow. The agreement calls for a maximum of five years in state prison and up to 10 years in a sexual offender program. In addition, he would be placed on the national sex offender registry and faces up to $80,000 in fees.

Two in Homeland Security now charged with child sex crimes
By LISA HOFFMAN
Scripps Howard News Service
April 05, 2006

Doyle, 55, allegedly bragged to the "girl" about his post at Homeland Security, and gave her his work telephone number when conversing with her about engaging in sex acts.

A spokeswoman for the ICE said Doyle was not directly involved in the Operation Predator program, and declined additional comment. The investigation of Doyle was initiated by the Polk County, Fla., sheriff's office, and the federal agency is cooperating with "the ongoing investigation," according to a Homeland Security statement.

The other Homeland Security official charged with a sexual offense involving a girl is veteran administrator Frank Figueroa, 49, the ICE special agent in charge of the agency's operations in central and northern Florida. Figueroa, who also ran the agency's El Paso, Texas, office, has pleaded not guilty to charges he exposed and fondled himself to a teenage girl last year at a mall in Tampa.

snip:

Within ICE, Operation Predator is a high-profile program launched in 2003. It is dedicated to identifying, investigating and catching child predators, and reports more than 6,900 arrests nationwide since the program began, according to the ICE Web site. (www.ice.gov).

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

how about this Mr Walsh??? who are you protecting Mr Walsh??

(sorry no link..and i don't have time to find one..)

Department of Homeland Security deputy Press Secretary Brian Doyle, arrested in Maryland for soliciting sex from a Florida undercover detective posing as a 14-year old girl, had company within the department.

On October 25, 2005, Tampa-based Homeland Security Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement official Frank Figueroa was arrested at Orlando's Mall at Millenia for exposing himself and masturbating in front of a 16-year old girl in the food court. Figueroa used his federal law enforcement badge in an attempt to avoid arrest.

Amazingly, Figueroa had been in charge of the Homeland Security Department's Operation Predator, designed to curb child sexual exploitation and child pornography.

43. I Don't Think Mark Klass Would Have Any Support for This Creep Foley
I can't tell you how many times I have been listening to John Walsh talking on TV, and have had to turn it because I can't ctand the creepy Republican partisanship--"George Bush has been so helpful on this issue, so honorable," "Ronald Reagan was so wonderful," "Ted Kennedy held the whole thing up by playing games," on and on, like an opportunity. The recent bill to get a more comprehensive registry and safeguard missing children, so trumpeted in the media, and Walsh gushing about Bush, oddly, actually added nothing to existing law, and does not deal with the problem of released sex offenders who got outrageously short sentences, which is the real problem--yet nobody mentioned that this whole spectacle was vanity, and helped no one. Walsh has long been well-known as a Republican hack--sickening under the circumstances--who actually does little to help the problem, but who gets on TV and grabs credit a lot.

I don't know for sure, but just to guess, I highly doubt that Mark Klass has any sympathy at all for Foley. I really like Mark Klass, and get the feeling that Klass was and still is devastated by Polly Klass's rape and murder. You can just see the pain, the burning hurt and anguish, the anger that has nowhere to go, all over Klass's face, and you can hear it. This is a real fighter for children and their right to be safe. I get the impression from a few comments that Klass may be a Democrat, but regardless, I get a totally different impression than from the "sleazy," "use the material" John Walsh, Republican operative. Mark Klass really seems like a devastated, grieving parent to me, very sympathetic and true.

and said so on the air, and said it would be his last appearance re: Karr.

51. Tomorrow It Will Be 13 Years Since Polly Was Abducted & Killed
Polly was my neighbor in Petaluma and I was working that night at a wine boutique right down the road from our houses. She and her sleep over buddies went to the corner store around 6ish that night I saw them from the store. Her death profoundly affected my life. I am sure Mark would be absolutely disgusted by Foley and his ilk.

RIP beautiful sweet Polly. You live in my heart forever.

then he'd get twice as wealthy exploiting their gruesome deaths.

Walsh is the sickest bastard on the face of the earth.

42. Just came across this video
with Walsh and Foley on America's Most Wanted site:

John Walsh and representatives from NCMEC and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America talk to Florida Representative Mark Foley about the importance of developing a sexual offender DNA database.

This is like when M.A.D.D. gave Dumbya and Cheney a free pass about their drunk driving history. I guess politics trumps any bad acts you are involved in, even if it's the one you are supposedly fighting against.

known about this for a long time. The aides have been warned about Foley when they started their jobs. Do you honestly think John Walsh didn't know about this guy?

49. Walsh is a hardcore Repug. But this should have been too much 4 him
I mean seriously...... would he have felt that way if Foley were writing to his (deceased) son Adam?
Me thinks not.

John Walsh just showed himself to be a liar. He claims to be a child advocate, but I guess its ok for
a child to be used and abused if the abuser is a Republican.

56. Walsh or the NCMEC should have apologized in some way
Edited on Sat Sep-30-06 11:50 AM by blogslut
This is a trust-breaker. Foley should never have been involved with children and yet, pedos manage to find jobs and fit into society quite snugly, thank you. They do good deeds. They present themselves to the public as respectable citizens. They build very slick images. I bet Foley was probably pretty good at his public service. I bet he fooled a lot of people including his friends and family.

Mr. Walsh should realize the damage this does to his cause and to the people affected by the betrayal of Mr. Foley.

Mr. Walsh probably doesn't actually run the NCMEC, but if he's going to make statements for them, they should be better.

57. I think we're reading too much into all of this
Hope you all don't mind if I step in here to be the voice of reason.

Walsh has done a lot to fight the missing children issue, and I'm sure Foley did a lot to help his organization.

After all of this came out after Foley's disgraceful acts and subsequent resignation, I assume they were painted into a corner. They had to say something.

The statement to me seems like a slightly wordy version of "No Comment".

I don't fault them for this statement. They had to say something, right?

or they don't?

In this case, it seems they're relationship with Foley took priority over their mission.

62. Walsh is a liar.
He started the whole scare with kids being fingerprinted and deathly afraid of going to the park because he admittedly lied to Congress about the number of abducted children every year.

Insurance companies started offering abduction isurance. Parents and teachers were instilling terror in their children. Young kids went on leashes and older ones took classes on how to escape from a locked car trunk.

The real numbers were, at most, on tenth of what he was claiming.

63. How About Saying
"It is our regret that Foley was reveled to be a hypocrite and pervert“.

Any “expert” at NCMEC can clearly see that Foley was grooming this boy for some hands-on action.

Pathetic.

76. Uhm, how about the "he'll be missed" part?
That is now scrubbed?

If you found out one of your co-workers/friends/person-you-admire or whoever means something in your life, was luring minors via the internet would you be repulsed? Would you "miss" them? Or would you be repulsed and say, "get the fuck away from me and mine"?

Even if you wanted to TRY to stay neutral while your "friend" went through any kind of trial (public, official or just a trial via media), wouldn't you phrase your public statement differently? Something along the lines of "Congressman Foley is due his day in court and until then I reserve judgement, as should every other American citizen."

Shit, I could write a hundred variations on this press release and all of them would be neutral and fair. And NONE of them would include "he'll be missed!"

For John Walsh to whitewash this and defend Foley in any way really makes everyone question the validity of the center he founded because of his son Adam, who, no doubt, would NOT approve of that statement or of Foley. :grr:

77. I was talking to a floridian who is a business owner in NYC about Walsh.
He said that it is fairly common knowledge (at least among seedy people) in Florida that John Walsh was a top importer/exporter of cocaine with connections to corrupt RW politicians and cops in his pocket. He said that many believe that his son, Adam, was abducted in retaliation during a drug war.

I don't know if it's true, but it would not shock me.

87. CHANGED again
New version:

Statement

National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC)

On the Resignation of Congressman Mark Foley

September 30, 2006

"In response to the numerous media inquiries we have received, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children is issuing the following statement regarding the resignation of Florida Congressman Mark Foley:
