Sadly, attacking Iran will almost surely be the last act of any Superpower that chooses such a course, and the fact that it's tantamount to insanity to even contemplate does not in any way mean Shrub and his Neocons won't do it. They desire and thrive off of chaos and destruction; they're not happy with the way the middle east has been working, so they no doubt figure what better time to reduce it to complete disorder. If you thought that such would be a bad thing, well, consider that the only way they can possibly have any significant effect on Iran (and beyond, given an overstretched military and no draft, no treasury and no other resources left) without resorting to tactical nuclear weapons. If they do that, and they truly reject the concept that they are subject to any kind of rules, so they not only would, but would do so with a giddy excitement, but if they do actually do that... The other nuclear powers in the world will be feeling rather upset and/or threatened. A line will have been crossed that can't be undone. Who knows what they would do, what Kim Jong (mentally) Il would do. If the conflict were to spread, at all... the world as we know it might end.

Bush & Co, though, would be riding off to wherever it's safe with a small fleet of submarines to wait for the radiation to settle down (patting himself on the back for being 'the decider', a true "transitional president"!).
