1. I'm sure he knew then.........
that the shit was going to hit the fan. He was probably making plans for his "retirement" already.

2. What are the implications of Foley not voting?
How does it affect the legality of the outcome if he had voted? Would the original vote be rendered null and void, and the vote have to be redone?

IOW, they all knew it was coming down and advised him not to vote so as not to affect the torture bill and everything else they wanted to cram through? Did he vote on anything else those last two soul-shaming days of Congress?

I really really want to know. Any experts on Congressional voting here in DU?

6. I inartfully worded my question.
I mean in reference to his not voting for the specific reason of his impending problems, with full knowledge and awareness by, of all people, Boehner, and of course Hastert.

This was ongoing criminal activity and they all knew it. How many times has Foley not voted? If this is rare for him not to vote, especially a matter of this magnitude, and if Hastert and Boehner advised him not to vote, then what implications does that have?

I'm really picking your brain here, but unfortunately I'm also asking you to be a mind-reader where Boehner and Hastert are concerned. Got your magnifying glass? :)

7. I agree with the poster below who says he was packing!
He has a shitload of "personal" stuff he will have to get out of his office...and then, there's his DC digs. No idea if he's camped in an english basement on the Hill, or sharing an apartment with a bunch of guys like Harold Ford, or if he has a jazzy joint in Dupont like Gary Condit did. But I'm guessing there's incriminating shit EVERYWHERE....his instant messaging technique suggested that he wasn't a newbie to chatting up children in a perverse fashion--he even had an unusual familiarity with the short hand of the lingo, so it wasn't his first time getting frisky at the keyboard I suspect.

He was probably mopping like mad, tossing shit, trying to wipe hard drives, all that fun stuff. The shoe-in vote was the last thing on his mind.

9. Tsk, tsk. And neither Hastert nor Boehner helped him with the cleanup?
I wonder if he had some assistance.

Hopefully all of Foley's computers have been seized, as well as all of the pages' computers. Let's see who's talking to whom with dirty fingers on their keyboards.

10. I'll bet no one will admit to helping him....and his "staff" has already
totally scrubbed his congressional website. No pictures, no nothing. You click on the house - foley - gov link, and you get taken to this: http://clerk.house.gov/members/electionInfo/Florida_16th/index.html

8. Could the fact that he wouldn't toe the party line be
the reason tht all this came out now? If he was outed out of revenge, I would think that the tidal wave of negative opinion has splashed onto some of the HIGHEST personalities in the party. That sumbitch rove didn't think this one through.

11. No--the House vote was OVERWHELMING. Half of those bastards
could have been off golfing or getting their carrots waxed in a Nevada brothel, and the Gang of Pedophiles (GOP) still would have carried the day in the House.
