(1) Does anyone from PV live in Virginia?

Ok I just joined this site, and my 17 year old daughter
and I are cracking up at some of the entries. But really, I live in Northern VA and was wondering if anyone else does.
Our new Senator, George Allen is an alumni, but he may not appreciate a trip down memory lane (Go Morningside!)So, let me know. Maybe we can cook up a mini reunion.

Hi Patty,
I haven't been to the message board in ages and just saw this. I graduated in 1975 and live in Clifton (Fairfax Station), VA. I hang out at a local tavern called the Hops Frog in Burke Center. Therre is another PV grad named Jeanie (class of 1965) that also stops by there a lot. We were ten years apart in HS but seems we were all doing the same things and hanging out at the same places. My brother Jeff graduated in 1970 and is generally upset I even live in a state that elected Allen to any office.
It is certainly a small world!

Hi Patty,
As I was watching the Football Hall of Fame Induction ceremoney last week and listened to George Allen speak, I couldn't help but laugh as I remembered the Morningside incident. Did we ever find out the real story?
Annette

PV is Palos Verdes High School. Allen graduated in 1970. These posts were all made years ago by real people and have no political agenda.

3. re: Allen in Palos Verdes HS and the Morningside Incident
http://johnstodderinexile.wordpress.com/2006/09/29/dear-fellow-sea-king/

....As it happened, the PV Sea Kings varsity football team was in a conference with several teams from predominantly African-American schools, including Centenniel and Morningside. I forget which one we were playing. And as it happened, George Allen, Jr., the son of the popular, eccentric and hugely successful coach of the Los Angeles Rams, was our team’s quarterback.

The buzz around the school was that kids from the opposing school must’ve come onto campus overnight and sprayed this foul graffiti. There was so much of it, it was overwhelming. But I have to say, there was something bogus about the graffiti.....

...So I was not terribly surprised when my first period class was interrupted by the principal with a special announcement that the other high school had nothing to do with the vandalism — our own students did it in a twisted attempt to inspire “school spirit.” The next voice we heard was George Allen Jr.’s, confessing that he was the guilty party. I think Allen was suspended for one game, and his family had to pay to clean up the spray paint. .....

4. Allen is twisted, all right.
I hope these students all join this board and get it more up to date with some reminiscing about Allen and the "good ol' days."

Suspended for one game. Privilege has its benefits. x(

5. i got this from a local blog
i live in the flatlands and can look up to the glorious dreamscapes of Palos Verdes from here, lol.

i'm glad our local blogger put this out there for all the locals to see. PV is full of repugs.

Allen, like GW and Cheney et al, got their start being jerks way back in their childhoods.

11. Has this latest made it to the press?
It does solidify a pattern of behavior on Allen's part.

12. I was also in Allen's High School class and yes, the
press is aware of this. Ryan Lizza wrote about it in an article in The New Republic back in April called "Pin Prick." He got several classmates and a former school administrator to talk about it on the record. They all agreed the graffiti was racist. Allen, by the way, admits the graffiti - denies the racial component.

Other reporters are working on the story, and it should surface again soon. Stay tuned.

8. Kicked...Thanks for posting this.
I'm hoping more PV alumni who remember the incident will come forward and go public. I know there's the Allen smear machine to contend with, but some classmates spoke with Ryan Lizza of the New Republic on the record. There have also been recent blog entries about Allen's high school days by another student who remembers Allen belonging to an underground club that harrassed minorities. More revelations to come.

9. I seems that people who knew didn't care about Allen as long as he was
confined to VA. But there is a real uneasiness about letting the bastard near the whitehouse. There is bound to be a lot more of this stuff.
