Mark Foley and Heritage Baptist Church

Should I send the good folks at Heritage Baptist Church an email regarding Mr. Foley? Maybe they haven't heard the news? They can pull it just in time for church services in the morning. :)

1. Why is it that seemingly the biggest FREAKS come from the ultra-religious?
It is frightening. Perhaps it's projection.

Who knows, but these demented people are SHOCKING! :scared:

7. Its a big source of victims...
at least with a lot of sex offenders. There are actually good case studies; the offenders go into the religion to attain positions of trust, and in the ultra fundy groups, they get that trust completely, with blind faith. Then they move in to molest.

3. An idle question, I know, but . . .
These clowns are tax-exempt WHY?

Oh, and they must not watch the news/have access to their website much.

8. Story of Isaac
by Leonard Cohen

The door it opened slowly,
My father he came in,was nine years old.
And he stood so tall above me,
His blue eyes they were shining
And his voice was very cold.
He said, Ive had a vision
And you know Im strong and holy,
I must do what Ive been told.
So he started up the mountain,
I was running, he was walking,
And his axe was made of gold.

Well, the trees they got much smaller,
The lake a ladys mirror,
We stopped to drink some wine.
Then he threw the bottle over.
Broke a minute later
And he put his hand on mine.
Thought I saw an eagle
But it might have been a vulture,
I never could decide.
Then my father built an altar,
He looked once behind his shoulder,
He knew I would not hide.

You who build these altars now
To sacrifice these children,
You must not do it anymore.
A scheme is not a vision
And you never have been tempted
By a demon or a god.
You who stand above them now,
Your hatchets blunt and bloody,
You were not there before,
When I lay upon a mountain
And my fathers hand was trembling
With the beauty of the word.

...

9. Is that actually Foley's church, or just a bunch of admiring fundy freaks?
Looks like the church is in his district somewhere, but I couldn't stand their website long enough to determine if he was actually from that church. Looks like the good reverend and some of the kiddies simply made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land of DC in order to worship their GOD... I mean, their GOP.

15. Could be...
IIRC, Foley's address was Port St. Lucie where said shurch is located.

He currently lives in Ft. Pierce but has had addresses in Palm Beach Gardens and Ft. Worth, so who knows.

16. Anything with "Heritage" in the name sends me into apoplexy.
In the South, "heritage" is a very loaded code-word. It means "fundy" and, most often, it means "lily white."

BTW: Anybody pick-up on the fact that Mark Foley (R-FL) is Ru$h Limbaugh's' congressman? That, is way too rich for my blood!

18. Then you must love "Heritage Christian School" ,,,
... the K-12 "target-rich environment" for Mark Foley that's attached to the church.

I gotta wonder whether Mister Foley has spent much time at that school - with his deep and penetrating interest in the teen-aged boys he's demonstrated.

17. Well, their 'email' address on that site is munged (fubar) ...
Edited on Sun Oct-01-06 12:02 AM by TahitiNut
... HOWEVER ... you can get Pastor Ronald Downs's email address (@ AOL.com, of course) if you do a 'WhoIs' on the site's domain name (heritagebaptistpsl.com). He's the Administrative Contact as registered through TuCows. His address and phone number is registered as well, along with his Fax number (!).

It's against DU rules for me to post that kind of stuff.

23. Nothing comes up at the url
but if they are endorsing him, or Bush, or any partisan politician, the church is endangering its tax-exempt status. 501c3's are not allowed to take a side in partisan races.

And then there's the issue of the pedophile on their website...
