FIVE PAGES have come forward about Foley! "We Knew About Him For Years!"
Edited on Sun Oct-01-06 04:45 AM by mhatrw
http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/content/nation/epaper/2006/10/01/m1a_FOLEY_1001.html

His sudden resignation as a Congressman, a position he loved, came only hours after he was confronted with e-mails and AOL instant messages he had exchanged with a pair of teenage boys. ABC News since has reported that as many as five boys — all congressional pages — have come forward.

Former page: We knew about Foley 'for years'

WASHINGTON — Sexually explicit messages from former Rep. Mark Foley to one former congressional page might be just the tip of the iceberg, the leader of an alumni association for former congressional pages told Scripps Howard News Service on Saturday.

While Foley resigned this week after published reports of "friendly" e-mails to one 16-year-old male page and the pending broadcast of more sexually explicit instant messages, similar graphic messages from him were received by at least three other teenage boys who once worked in the page program, said Matthew Loraditch, a Maryland college senior who runs the U.S. House Page Alumni Association's Internet message board. "I've known about them (messages) for several years now," he said Saturday.

...

"It was definitely crossing-the-line stuff. The instant message stuff, and stuff I've seen and heard about, definitely couldn't be misconstrued" as merely "friendly" or innocent, Loraditch said.

After Loraditch returned to Maryland and began attending college at Towson University, several male former pages told him they had received Internet messages that were similar to the graphic messages first reported by ABC News last week.

Maybe most of them... :puke:

Perhaps we should demand DNA tests and fingerprints of ALL members of congress.

6. Grand Old Perverts, you mean.
Or maybe Grand Old Party of Torture, Murder, and Perversion. Whatever. Yours is a good graphic, very eye-catching. And no graphic in the world could be big enough to capture the many varied perversions of the GOP.

better because they are having a 'party' at our expense. Torture and sexual perversion is nothing but a big fraternity party to the Ghoulish Old Perverts.

12. According to Foley
anyone who violates children should loss their civil liberties.

I think he should live by his own words.

Foley and Joe Walsh are big proponents of a National DNA database. I think the Repug side of the aisle would be a good place to start.

75. Loyalty to their Party Comes Before Loyalty to their Country
Edited on Sun Oct-01-06 05:56 PM by JPZenger
I heard an interview with Bob Woodward today on C-SPAN about Watergate. (I'll temporarily forgive him for having been a Cheney-Bush Inc. shill in recent years).

Woodward said that the main thing that struck him after listening to thousands of Nixon's tapes is that: There was never any discussion about what was good for the country or what was the right thing to do. Instead, all of the discussions were about what was politically beneficial to the Nixon Administration, and how they could screw over their enemies.

That is very similiar to what is happening today. The GOP House leadership didn't ask what was the right thing to do to protect 16 year pages. Instead, there has been a long history over the past 5 years of covering up the truth in order to avoid embarrasments to the Republican Party.

Every one in power needs to realize that they swore an oath to protect and defend the US Constitution - not to protect and defend the Republican grip on power. Loyalty to country must come before loyalty to their party.

2. The story is the cover up. Report due in 10 days. This is exploding!
And it's about time, too.

Thanks, Pelosi, for your leadership.

http://www.democraticleader.house.gov/

And, to creep you out, check-out Foley interview about pedophiles.

crooks and liars

Friends, this could be the end of the Republican Congress completely.

It also seems possible that ABC knew about this for a while. They sure found evidence from 5 pages quickly.

I've learned not to get my hopes up. But, there is reason to promote this failure of leadership.

Peace

predator who regularly targets underaged boys who apprentice at his place of employment while serving as his party's head of "child protection" is a huge story in itself.

28. The "biggest story" is what the networks decide to report. For example...
What's the big story:

(1) Ten years earlier Gore, who took the initiative in Congress funding the internet, bragged about that accomplishment in words that could be almost misconstrued, or for twenty years Bush ran company after company into the ground by gross mismanagement?

(2) The Bush administration was cutting oil deals with the Taliban while they were providing food and shelter to al-Qaeda's leadership in the months following the Cole attack, or Democratic Congressman Something Condit was having an affair with another adult who then got murdered?

(3) Clinton got a hummer, or Livingston got tied up and flayed by a chick in leather?

(4) One Republican congressman was trying to seduce teenagers, or the Speaker of the House and the entire Republican Congressional leadership was covering up this Congressman as he tried to seduce boys who live under the legal care and guardianship of Congress?

7. I don't think Pelosi's going to get her report.
:grr:

...House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi of California proposed to the House that its ethics committee investigate and make a preliminary report in 10 days. She demanded to know who knew of the messages, whether Foley had other contacts with pages and when the Republican leadership was notified of Foley's conduct.

Instead, majority Republicans engineered a vote to allow the ethics panel to decide whether there should even be an investigation.

I think its building up to too big a deal. Its not like Delay taking money, this is about perversion--a much "sexier" story than Texas political financing, the kind of story the MSM just loves. The MSM buried Ney's resignation for the Repubs but they can't bury this one.

It can be presented in a non-partisan way,if need be.Why are these people covering for a known pedophile? Why are they more concerned for their own political gain than the welfare of these minors? Is it true that the head of the RNCC and the speaker of the house kept this under wraps(and possibly MUCH MORE) for almost a year...putting more boys at risk...to save the collective political ass of the Republicans up for re-election?If the shoe was on the other foot, the repubs would literally be crucifying our disgraced representative.I know we have more important things to focus on-but THIS may actually sway some right-wingers to jump ship.We need the votes right now.We can argue principle after November.

Is it ABC who first released the instant messages? I wonder if the WH is trying to do some "damage control" on more than one front. The Repukes are distancing themselves from Foley, while lying their asses off and just making things worse for themselves. They're also attempting to help out good old ABC and the network's "credibility" after their "Path to 9/11" fiasco.
Just wondering if anyone else was wondering.
Maybe the Titanic is sinking while the rest of us are watching on dry land.

Well, yeah, sure....except for small principles like pedophilia! Damn, I never knew until Foley that pedophilia and protection of adults who prey on children was one of the mainstays of "family values."

The GOP Congressional leadership: What a bunch of sick, fucking, self-centered, self-interested, evil old men. Anyone who would turn a blind eye on someone who is exploiting a child should go straight to hell. Too bad Bush's suspension of habeas corpus and support of torture does not apply to fuckers like Foley and those who tried to sweep what he was doing under the Congressional rug.

38. Excellant! now pushing forward to Hastert & Boner resignations
as many as five boys — all congressional pages — have come forward?!!! -> this leads to that Hastert and Boner new and provided the coverup for a predator which mustn't be tolerated regardless of which party you swing with.

Former page: We knew about Foley 'for years'...!

41. The Time is NOW
Sometimes our bravery coalesces, our voices rise in harmony...And we achieve tremendous social growth.

Righteous indignation, disgust, and anger can fuel activism which nets results. Please, write letters to your representatives, to the media, to ANYONE you feel can effect a change. Please, participate in protests, even if you are likely to be arrested. Use your energy for social and spiritual advocacy and growth--these are more productive responses than finger-pointing and blaming.

In the words of Margaret Mead: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

Data on hard drives, like chat sessions, can be recovered. Cops do it all the time.

If Foley was sending pervy chat messages to pages, I wonder what other dirt he was into? Kiddie pr0n, perhaps? Makes ya wonder....

This makes the Clenis and Monica look like the bullcrap that it was. :D

63. After he voted for impeachment, Foley said this about Clinton in 1998:
"It's vile. It's more sad than anything else--to see someone with such potential throw it all down the drain."

If these Repubs. weren't so arrogant and didn't have such inflated, 'holier than thou' opinions of themselves, they wouldn't fall so hard.

61. But...but...he goes to Church on Sunday
and all is forgiven. He does the same thing the following Sunday, and all his sins for the previous week disappear: he's ready to meet his maker, and he does the same thing the next week and the next week..... That's all it takes for a morally bankrupt hypocrite to remain righteous. I don't know if Foley attends Church, but I do know people who are racists, and generally bad people, and they remain in a state of grace by constantly asking forgiveness. I believe that's why religion is so important to them.

My concern is that his resignation versus dismissal will allow him to keep his pension. If convicted of a felony would that supersede the rules of Congress??

This guy was a predator who used his position to betray the public trust and commit the most heinous of crimes. He should get extra time for the hypocrisy of being a supposed child advocate as well as anyone who was found covering for him.

I simply fail to understand how he thought he could get away with this is today's climate. He made his bed, now him and his supporters can sleep in it. Pun intended. :)

76. "Republicans deny using condoms"
When asked whether they used condoms when having sex with underaged pages in the congress chambers,
Republicans responded that they had on occasion taken leave of the facilities, but had used condoms
in accordance with HR. resolution 39383 regarding the use of condoms when fucking pages.

However in direct contrevention to the prevention on AIDs strategy adopted by the GOP congress, Hep-C
and HIV positive repubicans have been humping the pages without condoms, teaching the values of bush
conservatism and Her Magesties Gracious Asskissing.

77. Dennis Hastert Calling For A Criminal Investigation?
Ha! Calling for an investigation into your own criminal behavior is awesome! He covered up the crime that Foley allegedly did, so he will be prosecuted too. Or maybe they'll give him a deal for his testimony against Foley. This is getting deeper and deeper!

But so far, silence from Dems. And don't tell me they are benefitting more from this by their silence, Hastert has been the first to call for a Justice Dept investigation, a preemptive move that leaves the impression that Hastert was other than part of the cover-up.
