Charlie Christ, FL republican candidate for Gov, Anything to hide?
I am going to pretend that I am one of those sleazy television “news” shows that puts out a headline and adds a question mark to cover their a$$es. “We’re just wondering here”.

One of Charlie Christ’s major points of his campaign has been “Protecting the Children”. Since the Foley debacle, I am getting freaked out when I see someone proclaiming to be protecting the children.

On his website http://www.charliecrist.com/index.asp?content=issues he has a video with John Walsh, America’s Most Wanted, who is endorsing Christ talking about how hard he will fight against pedophiles. Now after just watching the video of Walsh with Foley, I wonder if there is more to this video or if I am just seeing it through jaded eyes. Walsh certainly was wrong on the character of Foley, could he be just as wrong in his endorsement of Charlie Christ.

On the left hand side of the website there is a link to videos. When the window opens up on the right hand side there are the videos to watch, it is the seventh video down. The video just freaked me out.

“I’m just wondering here”.

2. There was something a few weeks ago about a paternity claim
Crist confronts paternity claim

As he did 18 years ago, the candidate denies an election-eve leak that he fathered a child with a woman active in the GOP.

Charlie Crist confronted an 18-year-old claim that he fathered a child with a St. Petersburg woman, calling it "absolutely false" on Sunday as a secret campaign was launched near the end of the Republican primary for governor to leak the paternity dispute to the press.

Documents faxed anonymously to the St. Petersburg Times show that in 1989 Rebecca O'Dell Wharrie said Crist was the father of a baby she wanted to place for adoption. Crist signed an affidavit denying paternity and relinquishing any parental rights.

"Parenthood by myself is not possible as I never consummated the act necessary for parenthood," Crist stated in the affidavit signed in May 1989. In a handwritten note at the bottom, he added "This should make clear the adoptive process. Thanks, Charlie."

The records, from the sealed adoption file of a girl who was born in June of 1989, were leaked to a handful of reporters four days ago. They were e-mailed to reporters across the state Saturday afternoon, and on Sunday Crist addressed the matter.

"The whole thing, I mean, it's just absolutely false," Crist told reporters outside of First Baptist Church in Jacksonville after attending the service. "It's obviously a last-minute ditch effort to try to resurrect a campaign, and it's sad, and it's the most scurrilous thing I think I've ever heard of in Florida politics. And I'm not going to honor it with any further comment."

4. They put this out there to counter the gay rumors.
Most politically active people in Florida know that Crist is gay.

3. The Florida press is in love with Crist....
(and he has some support in Democratic circles here too). The Democratic primary was pretty bruising. The Foley thing may make the race interesting though. In that district there may be some who wont vote for any R's. Ultra conservatives also will are upset with Crist for some of the social issues. the gay rumors dont help either.

but truth is Davis needs a lot of help.

6. I hope by election day
Floridians will rather pick someone who is boring and dull, over photogenic and perverted.

Foley's sex scandal is going to hurt a lot of his buddies too. Foley wasn't the only Repug who likes illicit sex.

7. I hope you are right but...
Davis's campaign has made a lot of mistakes and he does not have complete Democratic support. A number of large lawyers who usually line up behind Democratic candidates are backing Crist.

8. Some of the Davis crowd
is going to Crist. Not a surprise, since Davis was a former Attorney General and is on the conservative side for a DEM. Up in No FL a lot of good ol' boys are still DEMs. They can be crude but they're not a bad bunch. I've worked on local issues with many of them.
