learnaboutcoal.org using child actors to peddle its message |

What do you think? I have a feeling where this is going, but I'd rather shut my mouth and let everyone speak. (For once...)

1. I just saw the cool teen with the messy room |
|
and I was like, Dude, he is so cool, I could light up some coal right now.
Frankly, I didn't really get it - why do I care what a 14 year old thinks? I don't give a shit that "new coal" is cleaner - it's still problematic in the long run and we need to keep looking to renewables rather than to continue on this fossil fuel path.

Why do they think we should respect the "wisdom" of children?
Maybe because the Bible says "A child shall lead them?"
that is such bull shit!

3. Every time I see that bratty girl say something like |
|
"We've got enough coal to meet America's needs for the next 200 years," I say to myself "Yeah, but how much beautiful land do we have to destroy to get to it, how many miners' lives will it cost us, etc., etc., etc.?"
Somehow the coal industry seems to think they can make their message bulletproof by putting it in the mouths of teenagers. That's as stupid as those "Carbon dioxide--we call it life" ads. (I could not believe the CO2 ad I saw where the voiceover was saying something about people wanting to STOP US from releasing so much CO2 into the atmosphere, and the visual was of--I kid you not--a poor pathetic guy struggling to RIDE A BICYCLE IN A SNOWSTORM. Yes, they would have you believe that environmentalists all want to take away everyone's car and force people to RIDE BIKES TO WORK IN THE DEAD OF WINTER!)
