On Meet the Press this morning, Republican Senator Mark DeWine portrayed himself as a bi-partisan Senator, who works with Ohio's neighbors, WV Senators Byrd and Rockefeller (my home state Senators; I now live in Virginia).
If you are from the Buckeye State (as much of my extended family is), please call, fax, and e-mail Senator DeWine, to insist that he demonstrate some of that bi-partisanship - and join Senators Byrd and Rockefeller in investigating the allegations against Halliburton executives and attorneys contained in this letter:
http://www.shareholdersonline.org/pdf/092006senateinvestigationrequest.pdfDeWine is clearly trying to affiliate himself in the minds of Ohio River Valley and Tug Fork River Valley independents with Senators Byrd and Rockefeller. Fine. Here's an opportunity for him to put his vote for oversight hearings where his mouth is.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x2274299GOP Senators like Olympia Snowe, Lincoln Chafee, and Mark DeWine cannot piously don the mantle of "thinking, bi-partisan moderates," without putting their actual votes where their mid-term rhetoric is. In my adopted home state of Virginia, there is no hope that Allen or Warner will even pretend to be interested in conducting oversight of Halliburton/KBR. So I strongly appeal to Ohioans to demand that DeWine step up to the plate, and call for Senate oversight hearings into Halliburton's Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations, tax evasion, and obstruction of justice.
Best to all,

(not to be confused with David R. Smith, the VP of Tax at Halliburton)
