Foley story timing sure took attention from Fitz/evacuation of courthouse
House leaders knew about Foley's internet exercises with youngsters for about a year. ABC broke the story this week. I missed how they got the story. Anybody wanna fill me in on that detail? Why now?

Once again, a big, juicy story breaks at a time that sure helped take spotlight off Cheney/Libby/Plame story sidebars.

Can't help but think back to Capitol and Senate Office Buildings being evacuated from time to time. We all figured there was lots of snooping going on then during those evacuations.

Well, consider: Fitz and team had to leave the building and their papers, just prior to Libby's arrival in court, because a sniffy dog alerted to possible explosives.

The dog's handler said the dog alerted. The dog, if called to testify, ain't talkin about what he smelled and when he smelled it. And he refuses to confirm or deny the handler's contention that he alerted to possible explosives in a bundle of clothes.

Most convenient. And missed by many, even here at DU, from what I have noticed. Wanna make sure ya all got this, cuz it may be important to remember down the road.

Evacuation of the courthouse occurred shortly before a hearing was to begin in the
CIA leak case. The hearing began at 1:30 p.m., about an hour after the building reopened.

Special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald and about eight of his associates were forced to leave the building and join more than 100 others on the sidewalks nearby.

The defendant in the case, former White House aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, and his legal team arrived a short time later and joined the throng outside the courthouse.

Would Cheney order henchmen to find out what Fitz has?

Would Cheney throw Foley under a bus to divert attention from other things?

Does the GOP shit on America?

1. The article doesn't say they left behind their papers
I'll bet my dollars to your donuts they shoved them into their briefcases and brought them with them when they went outside.

6. Ever been evacuated from a building? I'd want photos to know for sure
that they were allowed to pack everything up first.

I don't recall Senators/Congressmen carrying things out of their offices when they got evacuated a few times.

Really would love pictures to see who was carrying what this time around.

Any DC area DUers catch it on the tellie? Did Team Fitz have their files with them out on the street? This could be important.

8. On cases like this...
Papers are moved into the courtroom by the boxfull. Lawyers hire special cartage services. It takes trucks. Large trucks.

4. Were there building security personnel who swept to make sure
everybody else was out? That seems likely.

Who was on duty that day. Havocmom wants to know

7. um, Fitz has not reported to us, doesn't mean he isn't busy
Are you the judge in charge of the proceedings re Plame/Libby?

No? Me neither.

Well, guess what... legal proceedings don't release everything that is going on. But we sure know who appears when a subject line mentions Fitz ;)
