Should Bill Clinton issue a statement condemning the media comparisons
to Foley or should he ignore them?

The media has been pushing this ridiculous comparison for three days. What should happen?

4. agreed.
get out of the way. Esp if the $100,000 from Foley to Reynolds (for the Repub Congressional Campaign Committee) *after Reynolds learns about Foley* and does nothing... is true. Sorta smacks of Hush Money - and getting uglier by the minute.

18. It's not a debate, and I suspect the comparrison will go away
very quickly. I must say, I'm surprised the MSM is hammering the Foley story wall to wall all day yesterday & today! I have SNN on now and the host is covering all the bases, including stating he's a PUB! I'm pleasantly surprised!

7. No, he should not, but some of his friends need to point our that $100m
should be spent on investigating Foley and there is no telling what kind of goodies they will dig up.

11. Why? He stayed silent when it would've benefitted Dem party most -
and on a matter as URGENT as being blamed for 9-11 - -but people expect everyone to come running to defend him on crap like this, AS USUAL.

Let him do it himself, for a change, and not WAIT FIVE YEARS like he did with "Clinton didn't do anything about terrorism for 8 years" perception.

8. Dear America
We know how I was treated by the RNC (mumble, dirty bastits) and how they tried since BEFORE I was elected (stinking rotten scumbags) to force me out of office and railroad everything I did (oh my God, eight years fighting these trolls) while in office. Now, they got me on having a casual relationship with an adult (I know, she wasn't a super model, but she was friendly enough) but I never even let my mind wander or imagine anything like this Congressman. Denny, you to should be joining your friend Tom on the sidelines just about now. Oh and Nancy, find a few dollars in the budget for an investigation. Time to hand out some life lessons here.

I leave you with this one sentence.

Corruption is at its purest form within the Republican Party.

Enjoy the show.

13. Bill Clinton shouldn't touch this with a 10 foot poll
Edited on Sun Oct-01-06 01:34 PM by karynnj
An official statement would only bring MORE attention to it. The comparison is unfair - what Foley did was illegal and involved a child. That RW radio has tried to minimize the difference between 16 and 21 is strange to me - the mother of 3 including a 16 and a 21 year old. (I also heard talk show person lying that Monica was a 19 year old - so they likely do see the situation is not parallel.)

I'm not sure who would be the right person to spell out the differences - but I seriously doubt Bill or Hillary should personally do anything unless directly asked. I also can't see how a statement by any Democrat would do anything other than mention it again. (I do think all Democratic pundits need to be prepared with good snappy answers.

14. The problem isn't RW radio,
it's every media outlet from CNN to Faux to MSNBC. This is another instance of media overpowering the message with RW talking points. I agree Democratic pundits need to be prepared. Not sure they'll get the air time, but they need to have strong counters to this nonsense.

15. No, Clinton should ignor it.
How about an e-mail campaign to media outlets to remind them that Monica was a 24 year old consenting adult who had previously had an affair with another married man?

She was NOT a 16 year old child.

I have sent such e-mails to FOX, CNN and MSNBC already.

Also any democrats who are questioned on this needs to remind them of same.

16. Absolutely not!
The rethugs would love for him to get involved in this, because they could immediately change the subject and make this about Clinton's offenses, not Foley's. No, he should completely ignore the entire matter.

20. If no one else in our party is CAPABLE of saying anything, he should.
I say CAPABLE because at this point, my attitude is "What is your fucking malfunction?" with some of these folks.

They're comparing consensual adult sex to child molestation. Isn't there some show on ABC right now where they lure guys to a house by pretending to be teenagers looking for sex? If they can arrest those guys, they can arrest Foley.

My hunch is, no one in the party wants to defend this too vigorously because we're still afraid we're gonna remind people that Bill Clinton -gasp!- had consenting sex with ANOTHER ADULT. Well, for one, no one in the country has forgotten, and for two, it's about time we had the nerve to come out and say "Okay, he cheated on his wife, but it WAS NOT A FUCKING CRIME. They WERE BOTH GROWN UPS. GET OVER IT."

This is what else I had to say on it:
