Republican quits over sex chats with boys - Australian headline
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,20867,20509219-2703,00.html

Geoff Elliott, Washington correspondent
October 02, 2006

A PROMINENT Republican congressman who crusaded against child exploitation has resigned in disgrace after a slew of sexually explicit internet conversations with underage boys were made public.

Mark Foley, who was co-chairman of the Congressional Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children, could now face charges under some of the laws he helped enact. This could include attempting to solicit underage children for sex.

Mr Foley, 52, who is single and long rumoured to be gay, left Capitol Hill on Friday without speaking to reporters.

His office released a brief statement making no reference to the scandal but in which he apologised to his family.

The revelations have rocked Washington and the Republican party, coming just five weeks before crucial mid-term elections in which the Democrats could take back control of Congress.

3. Wow, It's made world news
I don't think American media can now suppress it.

More boys coming into the picture. The fact that GOP leadership knew about and did nothing now needs to get out.

4. Where do pedophiles hang out in Florida?
Reporters should talk to boys hanging out on those streets and see what they come up with. If Foley spent any time in San Francisco, in the hopes of being anonymous, Polk Street's inhabitants may recognize his photo.
