Now that Kissinger's been "outed" as the current go-to on Iraq
Edited on Sun Oct-01-06 08:31 PM by Montauk6
forget wondering how the freepers and the Machine will try to spin this. I'm just curious how Christopher Hitchens will choke on the irony that his pet cause is in the hands of, in Chris's view, one of the most evil war criminals in modern history.

1. And Henry was SO fucking brilliant about Viet Nam, wasn't he? What a
surprise that they'd call on his expertise to deal with Iraq!

10. "Lost the war because we lost our WILL?"
I'd love to know what planet Kissinger is from because I'd like to cross it off my places to visit.

It's amazing how all these experts have been obtuse enough to miss the real lesson of Vietnam, a lesson learned by imperial powers throughout the ages: don't go where you're not wanted to steal resources that don't belong to you because even military superiority can't stand up to a long war of attrition that depletes your treasury as it decimates your military.

The lesson of Vietnam was to stay the hell OUT of these "limited conflicts" and occupations, not seek new ways to WIN them. They are by their very nature unwinnable.

11. But yet, they seek his counsel. And no doubt pay him handsomely for it.
We really HAVE fallen down the rabbit hole, haven't we?

16. He's still fighting the Vietnam war, in Iraq.
Didn't want to leave Vietnam and ever since has been bitter; now he has the opportunity to cheerlead for Bush and insist we stay there forever. How old is he anyway? Maybe he'll go to hell where he belongs soon.
