Most of us are parents.

They had covered this up for the sole purpose of keeping power...it was party over something that every parent shares. THE WISH OF THE SAFETY OF THEIR CHILDREN...THEY PICKED PARTY OVER OUR CHILDREN'S SAFETY.

How many more were exposed to this vile man, because they chose to HIDE IT and COVER it from the public? They had become accomplices in a crime. They chose PARTY over morality, over their own humanity. THIS IS SO DISGUSTING...I CAN NOT BEGIN TO EXPRESS IT.

It is because they have something to hide. TO hide it for a year or more, they are pretty good at damage control. But, just before the election. Maybe, not so good. Foley surely did not put party over partying.

I could rant and rant on this...IT HAS STRUCK HOME TO ME...THE F*ckers chose their own party and power...over our children! WE HAVE THAT IN COMMON...we can talk on common GROUND...where they can really understand...MOST OF US HAVE or HAD CHIDREN..Once a MOMMA always a MOMMA...you dont F*ckin mess with my kids.

This is so vile, even the most ignorant Republican can relate. YOU DONT MESS WITH MY CHILDREN...they chose party over that...Power over that. What is the most basic to most of us.

Who turned out to be less than stellar 'moral examples,' they will think Foley does not represent the party. The history of GOP perverts far exceeds even those of the Democrats. The list of those hyprocrites would fill a page.

5. I don't know...

It is now coming out that those in power..knew that this happened and kept it quiet for nearly a year. They were even allowing the man to run again for re election (after the fact)

It is clear they chose PARTY and POWER, or there would have been no reason to go nearly a year, before this was exposed. They did it for one reason, and one only...TO MAINTAIN POWER.

They chose party, for something this vile, every parent could relate. They chose this. It is very hard to argue against, when you can see in your mind's eye...it being your baby, your child.

We have common ground.

I re read these posts and I sound so incoherent. Please forgive me, this has really struck home with me.

I know there is the REPUBLICAN TORTURE BILL to try to deal with. And granted that is horrible...also beyond words to express.

6. Not that all Democrats are above reproach

But, the hyprocrisy of the Repugs. Right now, Go to the DU home page for the list and history of GOP perverts. Go to Jeff in Milwaukee,"Grand Old Perverts," on page one today. the list of some. R.Bauman, J.Bunn,D. Burton, K.Calvert. Ken Calvert was the only one involved with an adult women. Lots of the repug list of shame had a thing for teen age boys. This is only a partial list.

7. Something I'd like to see.

It would mean hanging our own dirty laundry out to air. However, I think it could be used very effectively.

Two lists, displayed side by side. One a list of all Republicans busted for or at least publicly embarrased by their involvement in acts like this and other "values" scandals. (Their values.)

The second a like list of all Democrats. An obsesively honest list.

Odds are at least one idiot will attempt to divert attention onto the Democrats by holding up a few shining (not) examples of our own. Anticipate and be ready to defang.

Now hang them up side by side. Maybe use icons to indicate the nature of the scandal and it's severity for those challenged in the attention span department.

All else being equal, the lists should be roughly equal. I'll lay London to a brick that they won't be. My guess is that the repuke list will be at least 4 or 5 times as long as the Dem. And that on average the individual excesses on the Dem side of the ledger will be of a lower grade than the Repuke.

Painting with a very broad brush, Republican/conservative thought patterns tend towards control. And you can't control unless you are in a position to do so.

Democtrat/liberal thoughts tend towards understanding. And the fisrt thing any such person who also has leanings towards the reprehensible will understand is that if one has something to hide, then diving into a pool of muckraking sharks is not a smart thing to do.

A like minded conservative with political ambitions on the other hand is far more likely to be of the belief that they will be (better?) able to control access to their person/personal life from a position of power. To engineer an unassailable public persona from that possition by placing themselves squarely (hiding) in the ranks of the most vocal critics of their hidden desires. Strange how ir seems to turn out, that the worse the offence, the louder the screeching against that self-same offense prior to the outing.



That's where the "be ready to defang" comes in. Rather than attempting to preempt any such smear campaing against Dems, take a page from their playbook and wait for them to put the noose around their necks before pulling the lever.

To put it crudely, see their felatrix and busted flush and take the pot with a pair of daughter diddlers and a trio of boy buggerers. (O.K. I don't think even this lot is stupid enough to try to drag the Clenis into this particular scandal, but it works in my poker analogy.)
