White House downplays Foley scandal as "simply naughty emails"

White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, appearing on CNN this morning, downplayed the Foley scandal. Soledad noted that Snow "tried really hard to minimize the impact and any kind of political fallout." Snow said, "I hate to tell but it's not always pretty up there on Capitol Hill and there have been other scandals as you know that have been more than simply naughty emails."

"Simply naughty emails." That's all they were. Just naughty emails between a 54 year old member of Congress and some 16 and 17 year olds.

That's why the GOP House leadership is scrambling. That's why they had to call in the FBI. That's why the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating.

21. This is really pathetic.

This morning as I was getting ready for work, I turned the channel to Fox to see and hear what they were saying about Foley. They were interviewing some republican hack, don't remember his name but he kept brining up other sex scandals from the past and say that this isn't what the repuke party represents blah blah. He brought up some other congressman on the Dem side and then of course, the POTUS equating that with the Foley scandal. He also said at least our side resign in disgrace unlike the Dem party that keep getting re-elected. It's the same as on cspan this weekend from the repuke callers. All they wanted to talk about was Bill Clinton and Barney Frank.

Poor republicans. They're sweating bullets big time.
