One Thing Scares Repubs & Will Blow The Lid Off This Scandal |
|
... One or more former pages come forward with a civil suit against ALL of the parties, Foley, and his enablers and those who covered up for him.
YOu can bet the House Repubs are contacting every former page that they suspect could bring such a suit, and are quietly negotiating settlments with confidentiality clauses requiring them to remain silent. After all, it is for the benefit of the pages to keep this out of the news.

1. They come from connected Republican families, don't they? |
|
I'm sure they can reach an agreement.

never underestimate very angry, disillusioned, homophobic, power hungry, greedy Republican parents. That's one wild card I wouldn't wanna play. :scared:

7. But, what about the former pages? |
|
You don't think this is a new thing in Congress, do you? It would be an explosion like the recent cases with Catholic priests...all these old page issues would come crawling out of the woodwork.
This definitely isn't Rove's October surprise.

8. They Didn't Learn a Thing From the Catholic Church Abuse Coverups |
|
...these kinds of settlement agreements eventually become public.
If they paid in the past to keep these things silent, that confidentiality obligation disappears once the information becomes public from another source and resides in the public domain.
I am betting there are lots of claims that have already been settled. Who will come forward and blow the whistle? Repubs surely would not go to court to enforce the settlement agreement confidentiality clause in this climate --and some former page is bound to understand that.

9. They are already talking |
|
Many former pages who are in their 20s now are coming forward saying they knew Foley was trouble when they were pages. Sounds like it was common knowledge.

12. The GOP has set up their own hotline, not a House/2 party hotline. |
|
For "victims" to call in. That is exactly so they can buy their silence. The Dems should set up their own hotline.
A GOP hotline on this issue is like one of those preganancy hotlines, "Pregnant? Didn't plan to be? Call this number for help." Of course, the "help" never includes the option of abortion. Well, the GOP sure as hell isn't going to urge any victims to go public.
Same for the FBI "investigation" under Gonzalez. They'll be telling the victims and their families that they must keep quiet because there is an ongoing investigation which would be jeopardized by public comments. And of course, under the new laws, the FBI could grab any uncooperative witnesses and detain them indefinitely.

13. Will Any WH Press Ask "Have Other Pages Been Paid To Remain Silent?" |
|
.... This is really the question that will put the Repubs on the spot? A refusal to answer has a negative implication.
