3. 17 non fatal shootings since aug. first
earlier this morning in las vegas a kid was found with a gun and they are looking for him

8. I attended a 3-day workplace violence prevention
training program conducted by Dr Park Dietz - he often used to go on CNN to comment on workplace and school shootings. One of his key points was that the media coverage of these situations actually encourages additional events. He said to watch the "violence curve" - you'd see something like 1 to 3 additional violent events for every hour of "non-stop" coverage. After one of the Post Office incidents he said he called CNN and told them to stop covering it or we'd have bloodbaths all over the country. When they refused, he cut ties to them and doesn't do commentary for any of these news outlets now.

With the 4 recent school violence incidents, (CO, Wisconsin, Las Vegas and PA)I'd say he has a pretty darn valid point.
