Bush Not a Rancher
Today, the people of Crooks and Liars have posted one of the questions Bush got when he did his speech in Kansas. The person started their question by referring to Bush as a rancher. I am not upset at C&L for posting this question. I am a little upset that people, like the person asking the question, actually believe that Bush is a rancher. I guess I should be upset with the media in that they are the people who know that Bush is not a rancher, but still allow him to pretend that his is a rancher.

Bush is not and never has been a rancher. When Bush bought his ranch in 2000 the family that lived on the ranch were a ranching family. This family decided to leave their cattle on Bush's ranch for a period of time. Bush never owned the cattle. In addition, from what I have heard Bush never took part in any ranching duties. Some time within the last year or two the cattle have been removed from the ranch by either the previous family selling the cattle or just moving the cattle somewhere else.

2. Yep
From what I've read they bought it just before they "won" in 2000 so they knew damn well they were going to "win" and be successful with their plans. From what I've read before they moved there they lived in a gated community in Houston. I wonder if Bush still owns that house to move back there after he's finished (unless he's in jail of course which I hope). I've also heard that he has solar power at his "ranch."

19. actually, no solar power ...
He has a geothermal heat pump (which saves 75% on energy costs) but he doesn't seem to know much about it.

But even more efficient, however, is the transference of heat and cool as a result of circulating water below the -- it's called thermal heating and cooling -- okay.

4. But he looks like such a regular guy
When he goes out on the ranch to "clear brush".

Maybe he's more of a Kennebunkport Cowboy.

14. Ever hear Ron Reagan tell about bush*s 'work' jacket?
The one with all the folds from being just taken out of the package? Ron on bush as a 'rancher' is marvelous! Mr. Reagan chews the shrub up and spits out a pile of sawdust.

Wonder if any site has that archived.

8. He's a tax evader is what he is
Edited on Tue Jan-24-06 03:56 PM by C_U_L8R
Some Texan may want to elaborate...
but there seems to be an awful lot of rich folk
around Texas who put a cow or two in the front
yard of their McMansions so they can be classified
as "ranches" - with lower property taxes.

A friend drove me around one of these wealthy
neighborhoods.... it was hilarious. It's like a dirty
little secret nobody's supposed to talk about.
How come no one calls out Dubya for not paying
his fair share either ??

I can't imagine that these people would turn away from any tax saving loophole or entitlement.

10. Unfortunately, they know he isn't
and they accept it. They know he "plays one on TV" as a co-worker Bush* fan told me recently. Its his persona and they like it. They are willing to accept it as a lie because they know the whole package is nothing but stage dressing. For many of them its all a big reality show and their "contestant" is winning and the rest of us are going to get voted off the island.

20. Bush was not only a rancher but also a Texas Ranger
He longs for those days of glory when he would be branding steers, busting broncos, or going on long cattle drives on the Chisholm trail to Abilene or Dodge City. When he proudly rode with the Texas Rangers, he tamed the west in fighting the wild Commanches or hunting down and smoking out them outlaws and bad "killerz".
