Kerry: Foley scandal part of GOP 'culture of corruption'

LISA ROSSI
REGISTER AMES BUREAU

October 2, 2006

Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry denounced former Rep. Mark Foley during an appearance in Ames today, shaming him for his explicit communications with a teenage congressional page that emerged last week.

He said he and his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, “are just appalled and astonished and angered by the double standard of values.”

“I’m really angry those in a position of responsibility care more about power and politics than protection of children,” he added.

Snip...

Kerry, the Democrats' 2004 presidential nominee and a potential candidate for the nomination in 2008, spoke today before participating in a kickoff event for Political Action Week at Iowa State University.

Kerry wouldn’t predict whether the scandal regarding Foley would directly affect mid-term elections in November, but said it adds to the “Republican culture of corruption,” linking it to what he said were failures responding to Katrina, the war in Iraq and the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

1. Thank you President Kerry.
For getting it. For stating it plainly. For not being worried about being too partisan. For linking this issue to the entire Republican leadership and why the voters should nationalize this election and vote them all out.

3. I liked his assessment during the 2004 stolen election campaign.
And I paraphrase, "They're all a bunch of crooks and liars"

4. Good answer. Everything they do is evidence of their corruption.
Do they do anything good? Anything that doesn't somehow turn around and benefit them? Anything at all? Even something good that they once did by mistake?
They may not be capable of doing anything that isn't wholly corrupt.
Cult of Corruption, Party of Perversion.

5. Finally; Great Kerry Comprehension of Things (Again)
Great--at last, an "official" Democrat is realizing that Foley is not a "distraction," but is part of the total world of criminality that Republicans have made of the world of what once was politics and law. It is not "different" from Republican corruption and crime--it is more of it!

7. A culture of pure, absolute evil, it seems to me.
These neocons are carbon copies of your classic villians from history. They are also stereotypical of villians in the popular fiction of our own times. HOW could anyone possibly be fooled? How could anyone not see through their BS?

There is nothing right or religious or vaguely moral about the way these greedy, selfish, power hungry, cold-hearted, arrogant, lying, manipulative SOBs are destroying everything that stands in the path between them and absolute power. There isn't anything so low or vile that they wouldn't stoop to in order to further their agenda of dominence.

Maybe we have been taken over by pod people from a hostile enemy planet. :sarcasm: :eyes:
