How long?
Edited on Mon Oct-02-06 03:35 PM by H2O Man
{1 Sunday Bloody Sunday; U2)

Yes...

I cant believe the news today
Oh, I cant close my eyes and make it go away
How long...
How long must we sing this song?
How long? how long...

cause tonight...we can be as one
Tonight...

Broken bottles under childrens feet
Bodies strewn across the dead end street
But I wont heed the battle call
It puts my back up
Puts my back up against the wall

Sunday, bloody sunday
Sunday, bloody sunday
Sunday, bloody sunday (sunday bloody sunday...)
(allright lets go!)

And the battles just begun
Theres many lost, but tell me who has won
The trench is dug within our hearts
And mothers, children, brothers, sisters torn apart

Sunday, bloody sunday
Sunday, bloody sunday

How long...
How long must we sing this song?
How long? how long...

cause tonight...we can be as one
Tonight...
Tonight...

Sunday, bloody sunday (tonight)
Tonight
Sunday, bloody sunday (tonight)
(come get some!)

Wipe the tears from your eyes
Wipe your tears away
Wipe your tears away
I wipe your tears away
(sunday, bloody sunday)
I wipe your blood shot eyes
(sunday, bloody sunday)

Sunday, bloody sunday (sunday, bloody sunday)
Sunday, bloody sunday (sunday, bloody sunday)
(here I come!)

And its true we are immune
When fact is fiction and tv reality
And today the millions cry
We eat and drink while tomorrow they die

The real battle yet begun (sunday, bloody sunday)
To claim the victory jesus won (sunday, bloody sunday)
On...

Sunday bloody sunday
Sunday bloody sunday...

{2} "The Long Day Wanes" (Chapter 40; Roberty Kennedy & his times; Schlesinger)

"After the meeting, Kennedy seemed overwhelmes, despondent, fatalistic. Thinking of Dallas, perhaps also of Sophocles ('Death at last, the deliverer'), he said to Jeff Greenfield that King's death was not the worst thing that ever happened. Then he said, 'You know that fellow Harvey Lee Oswald, whatever his name is, set something loose in this country'."

{3} Eulogy for the Martyred Children (by Martin Luther King, Jr)

"This afternoon we gather in the quiet of this sancuary to pay our last tribute of respect to these beautiful children of God. ....These children -- unoffending; innocent and beautiful -- were the victims of one of the most vicious, henious crimes ever perpetrated against humanity."

{4} Albert Camus

"I share with you the same revulsion from evil. But I do not share your hope, and I continue to struggle against this universe in which children suffer and die."

1. Children Always Pay The Price
Girls were killed today by a 32 year old man who was seeking revenge for something which happened 20 years ago, when he was 12. Last week it happened in Colorado. Black children were killed because their parents were determined that they were going to be treated as equals. Children are being killed daily in Iraq, to benefit a fake war brought to us by liars and cowards. Yes, something has been set loose, and it will be the death of all of us if it isn't stopped.

2. It's an ugly thing
when any human being is convinced that their feelings of anger and frustration somehow justify violent outbursts.

3. Unlike Camus
I have retained my hope, but will also continue to struggle against evil

5. Hallowed Ground; Grace
Are we living for an uncertain future?

Who will be there, who will be the next victim of the criminal dawn?

~~~~~~~
Looking in the papers makes me sorry to be human
A little ray of hope won't hurt at all
------------------------------
Hallowed Ground by Erasure
Released on Innocents album
------------------------------
Everybody's intent on killing someone
The streets are closed and there's a kid on the run
The bullets scream out from gun to gun
Everybody's intent on being someone
The cold and darkness of the criminal dawn
Wrapped in blankets, gotta keep themselves warm
A child in the arms of a teenage mom
Who will be there, who will be the next victim of the criminal dawn?
Old friends meet on the edge of town
Sharing conversation, hoping things'll soon get better
While the children meet, got the world at their feet
Not knowing what's around the corner
Are we living for an uncertain future?
Down by the corner sits a broken man
Lives by the bottle, swears never again
Lost his money on the dogs and gin
He looks for his supper in garbage can
The kids hang around by the old schoolground
Right by the river where the body was found
Throwing stones on hallowed ground
Who will be there, who will be the next victim of the criminal dawn?
Old friends meet on the edge of town
Sharing conversation, hoping things'll soon get better
While the children meet, got the world at their feet
Not knowing what's around the corner
Are we living for an uncertain future?
Can you hear them calling?
In the cold and darkness of the criminal dawn
Wrapped in blankets, gotta keep ourselves warm
A child in the arms of a teenage mom
Who will be there, who will be the last victim of the criminal dawn?
Old friends meet on the edge of town
Sharing conversation, hoping things'll soon get better
While the children meet, got the world at their feet
Not knowing what's around the corner
Are we living for an uncertain future?
Old friends meet on the edge of town
Sharing conversation, hoping things'll soon get better
While the children meet, got the world at their feet
Not knowing what's around the corner
Are we living for an uncertain future?
Grace
Released on Erasure album.
------------------------------
Looking in the papers makes me sorry to be human
A little ray of hope won't hurt at all
A price on every head and it's cheaper when you're dead
Quality of life may have to fall
Muffled voices, world in action
Stir the peaceful, need for longing
I... cannot describe the fear inside my heart
I... hereby do swear to live my life in accordance with grace
Guess it's human nature to be cruel and heartless
But that's no reason to shoot him when he's down
Crawl in on your knees and then bite the hand that feeds
The cages throw their shadows across the ground
Where's the sense in senseless violence
Hear the silence too forgiving
I... cannot describe the fear inside my heart
I... hereby do swear to live my life in accordance with grace (grace, grace)
Press your hands in, into the pavement
Bathed in glory, here's your moment
I... cannot describe the fear inside my heart
(I... hereby do swear to live my life in accordance with grace)
I... herebydo swear to live my life in accordance with grace
(I... cannot describe the fear inside my heart)
I... cannot describe the fear inside my heart
(I... hereby do swear to live my life in accordance with grace)
I... herebydo swear to live my life in accordance with grace
(I... cannot describe the fear inside my heart)
6. '40'
I waited patiently for the Lord
He inclined and heard my cry
He brought me up out of the pit
Out of the miry clay
I will sing, sing a new song
I will sing, sing a new song
How long to sing this song
How long to sing this song
How long...how long...how long...
How long...to sing this song
He set my feet upon a rock
And made my footsteps firm
Many will see
Many will see and fear
I will sing, sing a new song
I will sing, sing a new song
I will sing, sing a new song
I will sing, sing a new song
How long to sing this song
How long to sing this song
How long...how long...how long...
How long...to sing this song
